We all probably know why we are here, right? We saw an insperational film which turned out to be the Star Wars of this generation. We came to a community about understanding beauty, love and saving what is left of this world. But now I think I'm seeing maybe some of us are taking in too much of it and we might have become too disconnected from what we are. What do you think? (I'll let you guys start.)

It's impossible to quantify humanity as such a massive bulk entity, that it could be evaluated as a whole, so why bother? I think I'm equally disconnected from everything, because I'm not sure if there is anything worth connecting for, but maybe that's just the usual pessimism. So many questions and uncertainties that I don't really know what to think anymore.

Someone other than myself might have to confirm this, but I definitely feel like I have been losing the understanding of beauty and love and focusing more on all of humanity's worse aspects lately. (I know that word can't be used as a generic label for everyone on this planet, but hopefully people know what I mean anyway.) I think of natural places that I want to visit and I get sad because I imagine them disappearing and feeling like I only have a little bit of time to enjoy them. I follow news stories about the environment, politics, etc. and get bitter and cynical, seeing no solution. Perhaps unrelated, but what happened at my university two Fridays ago really touched a raw nerve and has kept me almost perpetually angry since.
Shoot, just look at the status I first made a few days ago. There is a reason why I keep my sig the way it is, though lately I've been failing to live up to its imperative statement. |

I'm not prejudiced against humanity, just the faction I find myself living in.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. Oh look, it's this thread again.
Remember how your last one of these ended. Nobody is saying anything about every individual in one, just about overall tendencies, which, like it or not, ARE apparent.

I Understand that we and the rest of humanity are in very deep s*** these days and from one person's imagnation, there is a world were everything can be almost perfect. But we have a little road block with that, we can't instantainously change speices to run from our problems. (Not accusing anyone, okey.) My belief is that the sooner we accept that we are human, the sooner we can work with humanity to make the future better for our race and the home we live in. I agree that I had a ruff start after watching Avatar from seeing the light so distant away and seeing the darkness we are standing in for a while. But I began to realize the fact and live with being half the hieght of my favorite alien race without a tail. What I did was mix in my feelings and beliefs from avatar with my beliefs of my other favorite things (Transformers, Starcraft, Linkin Park, ect.) Because I have multipl things to follow I basicly have the best of both worlds (Or more worlds) so there weren't any empty spaces in my beliefs. Also look at my signature and avatar. I chose the face of Jim Raynor because he is a human with some problems with his past and himself. But He still strids to fight for a better tomarrow for his race and his friend race the Protoss.

Imagining alien worlds full of life actually makes me less sad about Earth as it is
If there are planets with life scattered everywhere, at least the diminishing nature here doesn't affect those places.
