I feel like staying at Wyldryde is our best option atm. Voted.
Although another option would be to move to irc.learnnavi.org I suppose... |

Yeah, I'm surprised learnnavi isn't on the poll.

Why not keep a ToS IRC channel?
Edit: Apparently, I completely misunderstood the proposal. Ignore this

IRC networks are made of servers.
Channels like #treeOfSouls are created by users on networks. You connect to a server on a network, and then join a channel to chat. Discussion here is which network to use. LN has their own server (on it's own little single-machine (?) network). - Mikko

I voted for geekshed for a few reasons. It's always good to keep your options open, and if any new channels need creating or admin stuff needs to be done, I doubt wyldryde will have much, if any, staff online and if they are, they may not want to help. Also, wyldryde seems to like killing their servers for silly things like thanksgiving and they are also reducing capacity which may (and with my ISP, will,
) cause connection and latency issues.

![]() But I agree that reducing capacity could cause unwanted problems. (However, this isn't something they are doing for sure - "We have servers paid for through some of 2012 and into 2013, however, when the contract’s are up we are currently thinking about dropping 1 or 2 of the servers. This of course depends upon the user base at the time [...]" - but still, it does seem more likely than not.) |

Honestly, that was a joke that shouldn't have been made. It's indicative of a lack of care about their userbase. While at the moment we have all the channels we need, there is always the possibility of future needs.

This is really all that needs to be said about the issue, it's clear that with time, we will not be able to stay with Wyldryde, no matter how many channels we need. It's been a good run but they're stepping down their service, and it's time for us to move on.

Well, obviously, we'll take opinions here into account, but it depends on their future viability, certainly. If they do make it internal only at some point, we'll be forced back into a move, and I will certainly raise the point of doing it if reduced capacity causes stability issues.

I've been sitting logged into the channel on both servers (as I have a persistent IRC connection anyway); and it appears to me that in effect we *have* moved to GeekShed? There's very very little activity on Wyldryde except joins and parts.

Following this, #AvatarMeet has also now moved to irc.GeekShed.net
