Wow, two years. Still a few days to go until my own Avatar anniversary though, the first time I saw Avatar was 6:35pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Damn, it's like it was just yesterday that Avatar turned my life upside down. Now I have friends, more than that, a family. How time flies, when one is in good company.

Mark of a well told story that it still draws us in. There maybe some communities that have gone a little quiet, but the fans have not as you will probably find many of us are on more than one forum! You are so right about that first time feeling. It got us all like that it seems. I just wish I knew what switch we all have in common that was turned on by this amazing film.

My first viewing was just a day before you. Like you I have friends who are like family, a family I never thought I would have and being able to meet some of them was just amazing. If anyone gets an opportunity to meet a member of your Avatar family take it!

The link below is to the one year anniversary video that we did this time last year. Ok it's now two years, but the our message and thoughts are the same:

It's really something, to think how long it's been since those early days when we'd all eagerly see Avatar trailers and catch up on all the Avatar news.

It really does feel longer then what it is. I feel like we've all settled in really well into our family here and elsewhere. I think we've all matured a lot since then, and now it's like we're seasoned veterans waiting for the next Avatar adventure and entering back into that world with wide eyes full of wonder.

I can't wait for that day, and I know that we will all he here for each other when that day comes. Avatar has been and always will be a deep part of my being and essence.

I was shown the trailer by the one kid in my class who wasn't already resolved to hate Avatar. I thought it looked pretty interesting and worth seeing. What did I know It has been such a part of my life since I've seen it that I can barely remember how life was before.

I feel like you do Moco, I can't remember much of my old life. Though I don't know if anyone would go back if they could.

One of the hilarious things about when I went to see Avatar for the first time. I was so ignorant of the movie, I went to see it when I did because I was worried that I was going to miss it in theaters like I almost did for Zombieland. The day I went to see Zombieland (and in a bit of "I can barely remember my old life, I actually had to look it up") was the last day it was in theaters. I went to go see Avatar in January of 2010 (yes, I was afraid I was going to miss Avatar in theaters early in January of 2010) knowing nothing about it aside from there were blue people. I hadn't even seen the full trailer, only snip-its.

I didn't even know it was in 3d until they handed me the glasses. I just figured the theater (its a very popular theater) had raised their prices and that would be the last time I was going to go there. And in fact, I think it was.

...And yet you'd pay a lot more than a regular movie ticket to see Avatar again there today; wouldn't you?

Well, if it's in 3D (I don't know for certain), I plan to on the 29th. Not specifically at that theater though. I went to midnight showings (well, 11:30) that required toll fare to get to see Avatar in 3D. And that was after it was released on DVD. Of course I'd go again if it was back in theaters. Heck, the reason I know it's showing on the 29th is because I check Fandango every couple of weeks for the past (nearly) 18 months!

Avatar was in theaters in my area (Pacific Northwest) up until a few weeks before it came out on DVD April 22nd. My first time seeing it was March 23rd. I can barely remember life before Avatar, but I know I wouldn't go back. I never saw ANY trailers or previews or anything, I was just out for a bus ride that day, felt like seeing a movie, and ended up at a theater 15 minutes before a showing was going to start. And y'know, the 3D showings were still sold out in April.

^^^beats me. I've been hanging around here on ToS for about a year & I see that there are very different people here (personalities, opinions, world views) & despite this, all of us are united by some "Avatar tsaheylu". Does anybody know what is it? If you do let me know cos I am lost... on Pandora

it's so strange & intense. Do you know, I saw a few "normal" movies since Avatar, with cars, buildings, humans etc. ... and they didn't seem real. Avatar is real. Pandora is real. The rest... seemed like kids game. Very strange.

I guess that some people did see Avatar by chance... I was kind of halfway between chance and planning to - I was aware of it but didn't know a lot other than 'scifi' and 'amazing', and decided to see it a day or so before I went to, while if I didn't then, I would have another evening.

I understand perfectly

I'm so happy that I have everyone here... the first time I've really cared about other people
