The man, whom I never met, who taught me the beauty of skepticism and the importance of keeping one's critical faculties always working passed away yesterday. It's painful to watch such a beautifully brilliant man go in the prime of his career. Hitchens was a titan of reason and the greatest orator of my time. I wouldn't be the same man without your work and I will forever hold your words close to my heart.
RIP Christopher 1949-2011. ![]() ![]()

Well, I'm not going to bring up the large amount of religious people here, and I'm not going to bring up some of the rather disrespectful parts of your post. In that case, rest in peace, Christopher.

I can respect his criticism of religion, but I cannot respect his neoconservative tendencies toward foreign policy.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden |

I always felt the same way but that doesn't seem relevant now. I'm going to remember the moral, human, and philosophical teachings he provided me through all of his work.

![]() I have even more respect for him, for facing his critics down right to the last. One of the greatest minds of humanity. The interesting thing is that I MASSIVELY disagreed with him politically, on almost everything except for antitheism and hating noam chomsky and sarah palin, but of a very short list of political opponents I have any respect for, he's at the top.
