Kaltxi ma eylan,
Some of you may remember that a group of us from Tree of Souls and Avatar-Forums teamed together to make a fan film called Our Only Home. It was born out of a thread discussion on the need to look after our planet; one of the themes in Avatar. Well, with a massive IRAYO to Apache_blanca, we now have our fan film with Spanish subtitles. Here it is: There are also versions in Finnish, German, Portuguese, Czech and English. You can view these at the You Tube channel where you will also see a couple of video's covering the making of the Avatar Fan film. There is also an app on iTunes that you can down load for your iPhone, iPod and iPad. Hope it is of interest. Alan |

You people are so hardcore that you make me feel bad. For me it's more about not doing something, rather than actively doing something, because I've grown tired of trying to change the world by arguing with ignorant idiots.
By the way, what's with leaving the tap on when brushing teeth? Has there been a sudden lack of common sense recently? I know I'm not really water efficient myself, because I have to use a lot of hot water in the shower or I'll freeze to death, but that's not even comparable to just leaving the tap on when not using it. |

Hey, don't feel bad ma 'eylan. We did this in the summer of 2010 whilst the Avatar affect was still running very high. It was one hell of an Avatar ride for us. People were chatting about the need to look after our home. So I suggested that instead of talking about it, why don't we do something about it, like make a film. I left the message and came back two hours later to a mountain load of replies of people saying go for it. So we did - 20 of us from 9 different countries.
I know what you mean about it being an uphill struggle to get people to change their ways. But small steps ma 'eylan. Lead by your good example and they will slowly change. It is difficult to change a 'culture', but it can evlove. We know where it needs to get to, so we need to start walking towards it. You are right regarding leaving the tap running whilst doing something as simple as brushing your teath. All these little things add up. It is up to us the change and stop it. Evolve. Consider our actions and not be all take. Irayo Aquaplant. Oel ngati kameie. Alan. |

The thing is that we all should be really hardcore if we intend to save what is left of our world, but I for one am not the lead the way kind, because I get depressed in an environment that doesn't agree with me. I'm a soft person, and I can't really change all that much on my own, because I need to obey the system that keeps me alive.
Small steps are good, and that's what we all need to do, but I'm afraid that we have gone over the point where that will no longer be enough. |

Alan!!
I've sent the link with the Spanish subtitles to Amma's centre in Spain & they found it very interesting & said it had a lot of potential *dancing a jig*. They want a DVD Amma's NGO is Big, see Amma.org - Nature. It reaches out to millions of people worldwide. I think it's good to have them as allies ![]() Aquaplant, each of us is more or less weak as an individual, but together we can do something. Ha! thought for the day from the above website: "We are all links in the chain of life. If one link is weak, so is the entire chain. Each thought and action has the power to brighten or darken many lives. Instead of cursing the darkness, let us each light one small lamp." - Amma.

This is such good news. I am in awe of Alan's ability to Make Things Happen. And he will quickly retort that he didn't do much, that it was all other people, but that's just a hallmark of people who Make Things Happen, that they know how to involve other people and share in making the game bigger. I've know many entrepreneurs who would break their own legs to have the talent Alan has.

Wow, that's an impressive list! O-O (big eyes).
Alan.... what's a Podomatic release? I don't know. Amma's people asked me either for a DVD - or the instructions on how to download it. What this Podomatic thing does, maybe they won't need a DVD if it works? What they want is a copy to play the video - as I understand - during a lecture of "Nature is our only home" cycle. Or something. About little things that we can do - I am thinking more in terms of the "individual responsibility" - & it varies from person to person, community to community. I posted a bit on it here: @Sempu: yes, Alan is a great tsmukan : an amazing combination of resourcefulness, dedication, ability to inspire the others - and modesty. A rare treasure Alan, we love you!

![]() Awww...I really don't know how to respond Sempu and Apache..., other than in the manner that you know I will. ![]() From my perspective you don't know how humbling it has been to have so many people place their trust in me and send video of themselves to someone they have never met. But that is what everyone did and I feel so honoured to have been given that trust. You know, I just feel like we have all brought something to the table, which ever Avatar related forum we are on. Spemu, you have given people hope and guidance during their dark days of PAD. Apache you have has bought your translating skills to the table and hey we have a Spanish verion of Our Only Home. Not only that, there will be a Russian one to thanks to you as well. There is a young lad on AF who has translated it into Italian over the weekend too. There are so many more who have given of their time and abilities, whatever they be. So I am just so grateful to be in the company of great people from around the world and be able to call them my friends. An absolute honour ma aysmukan sė aysmuke. Irayo Sempu and Apache for your kind words. I really do appreciate them. You are great people too. ![]() Yeah it is quite a list of places people have downloaded our film. Not sure if I mentioned that the list was just for the last 12 months. I think the 'grand' total is close to 4000. A really interesting thing I found out last year was that there had been 10 downloads in Los Angeles... Now I know it is highly unlikely, but it would be just great to think that someone connected with the making of Avatar might had downloaded our film. But I guess we will never know. Quote:
So it can be downloaded from iTunes. The other OOH we have on iTunes is an App for the iPhone and other i-thingies! This was done by Unil Makto from AF who pulled together a quiz with the video embedded into the app. Don't ask me how, he's a clever bloke! Anyway, I can quite happily do a DVD/Bluray for you, which will be better picture quality. Quote:
Irayo again for your kind words ![]() Oel ngati kameie...in Seattle - both of you .Alan |

The forums happen to be housing the richest deposit of Avatar fans..." - So "let's use what we've got, & get some results" ![]() P.S. Alan, Will you send me the link to OOH with Italian subtitles? Hey, Apache!
![]() Irayo for putting OOH on the Spanish Avatar Fan forum. So far we've had 56 views of the Spanish version. I'll let you know about the Italian version - just got one or two tweaks to do first now it's been checked through by ma tsmukan _Omaticaya_ on AF. Then I'll be able to get you some results - ![]() Kiyevame ma tsmuke ![]() Alan |

Well...we already have Czech, Finnish, German, Portugese and now Spanish. Currently have Italian and Russian being approved with many thanks to Apache_blanca and _Omaticaya_
![]() As for why we have added the different sub-titles, well simply because, although the film is in English, there were a number of folks involved from non-English speaking countries, and so they translated the script, which I added onto the film. It means our fan film is accessible to more people. There has already been 56 hits of the Spanish version so far, thanks to Apache_blanca. ![]() Alan |

ah well... you know... it's been a pleasure & an honour! ![]() One thing: about getting some results... The way I see it, it's important to put the effort in, to launch the thing, so to speak - but then things take their own course. OOH seems to have grown little legs (& maybe wings, too!) and is globetrotting. Check it out: you got the idea to film it, a number of people replied, the video was made, launched on YouTube - & you guyz even got it shown in IMAX (!!) ![]() And then... it was presented at a short film festival - & people got interested. I got it & started showing it around - now Amma's centre got interested. What next? Go figure! I am rather philosophical on this: say, you plant a seed, & you need right weather, soil, water... but once it's planted, you won't be digging it out every five minutes to see if it grows, right? There is a whole lot of factors involved; it will grow, don't worry. One can do only as much as one can do. But when we're talking more people... it's a network! ![]() Another thing: about giving an example to the others. Like my Spanish proffi used to say, the best examples come from life itself. When I moved to Spain I didn't think much of recycling, I simply wasn't familiar with it. Here I got some ideas & started separating waste. My husband & stepson said that it was no use cos most people didn't do it, workers in recycling plants were paid for it, industry contaminated much more so it wouldn't change anything. I said that that was true - but I would still do it cos it was something I could certainly do & so my conscience will be at peace. Guess what, half a year later they started separating waste too I was pretty much surprised cos I didn't try to convince them or impose my opinion - but they got "infected" by the example. Go figure ![]() ![]() Of course 3 persons on a global scale is a drop in the ocean - but hey, we're talking 100% population of this one house!
