I received my computer generated name about a month ago, and it is Niri Te.
I can not find any meaning in any dictionary for Niri, (perhaps it IS from Eywa, and NOT a computer's silicon chip), but I understand Te to mean "Of or From" a Clan, or family. If that is the case, I would like to know the name of the clan by the Eastern Sea. They fly ikrans, and I am a pilot, and have been flying since I was 14, and they are right by the Sea, and I have done a BUNCH of Blue Water Sailing, so THAT seems to be the PERFECT Clan for me to pledge my Blood, and my Honor to. Now all I need to know, is the name of the Clan. Niri Te |

There isn't a canon name for them, although perhaps a translation of sea, ikran, clan ('olo), etc might arrange into something.

That would make my more definitive name Niri Te 'Olo Txampay Ikran . I would have made it Eastern Sea, but I could not find Eastern, or even East in the Dictionary.

Blahhhh name generators
Anyway, Na'vi doesn't have have directional words, so the closest you can get is "Ikran Clan of the Sea" which would translate (roughly) to Olo' Ikranä Txampxayä (Clan of [the] Ikran of the Sea) Also "te" doesn't mean 'from', that's "ta" or "ftu". "Te" is just a participle used in full names -Txonä Rolyu

Hey, Niri Te ftu Olo' Ikrana Txampxaya looks cool, and sounds even cooler. (I tried to type the Navi "A's" in there, but every time that I did, the program would DROP the word Txampxaya, and I would rather all the words be there without the "proper" accents, than have the program drop the entire last word).

Sup guys
So... question, does clan name go in your name or is it family name? Is Tskaha a clan or a family name? Niri te (familyName) (motherFirstName) would be your full given name had you been born na'vi, I assume. It seems you want to go more the route of area than family in proclaiming your name, like "Jesus of Nazareth" or something. I'm not sure but I think close to this type of structure is Niri olo'ä ikranä txampayä (Heh that's a lot of genitives ;D) |

In my mind, you are the resident expert here on Na'vi language and customs, and I like what you came up with, so i will run with it.
Today was when the Retired Military get their pay, so I spent most of the day in El Paso getting supplies to take "up the hill" to Salt flats, so I wasn't near any study materials. I'm fixing to go to bed, but will be back studying tomorrow morning. Niri olo'ä ikranä txampayä |
