Whoa, thanks for posting! It's interesting to hear how some of those parts got arranged for the orchestra. I really like that strings part right around 1:54.

I haven't listened to the soundtrack for a longer while now, so it was great to hear some of my favorite melodies again. In my opinion listening to them here, seeing how they're performed by an orchestra, is totally different than hearing them in the movie or simply playing a mp3 file.
That part from Jake's First Flight was wonderful

Irayo, HNM, for posting that vid of the orchestra playing music from Avatar! Very nice indeed!

Great find!

This is the only live performance I've seen of any of the music.

Am I right in thinking that there is no James Horner live orchestral version of the soundtrack?

Unfortunately, I think you're right, versicolor at least, I didn't find any lives by James Horner...what a pity

Yes a real pity, must be a reason I guess?

Not sure if he has ever performed any of his other soundtrack compositions live but in this instance it is a real shame.

Hans Zimmer on the other hand seems to perform all of his soundtracks for an audience.

Maybe some sort of contractual obligation on his behalf?

Come on James, we love your music

I suppose that as is the case with all movie sequels and their respective soundtrack composers, JH will add to his score.

Great, more Avatar music to look forward to possibly!

And perhaps next time hoping for a live performance?

I REALLY hope so Anyway, do you ever think about how the sequel score would be?? The present one is so...perfect! I can't imagine how JH could improve it, or add something new...preferably mantaining the same main theme...I adore it Mmm...ok...maybe I'm leading this thread a little...off topic

I hate to sound like a pessimist, but I found this very bland. :/ The Jake's First Flight has none of it's original power and feeling, the strings are too weak and the drums didn't fit. Where's the emotion!? And the singers?

Critical much

Not too critical, loveavatar Of course this is NOTHING compared to the original song...but it is an interesting part, while the rest of the execution is just..

Covers never better the original though do they.*
A decent effort nevertheless and after all it's the only orchestra I've seen attempt this.

*I'm sure someone will point out an exception
