I've been waiting to post on this thread until now...Exactly 2 years ago to the minute I was walking out of the theater after seeing Avatar for the first time...What a mind-blowing experience that was!!!!!

Little did I know how Avatar was to change my life & how many times I would see it before it left the theaters........

Heres to all that We have seen, done & accomplished---THERE is so much to do in this world to set things right again & not have Avatar be a "real" vision of our future!!!!!

I hope it's the same in one way: I'd love for us to find alien life that soon!

Yesterday was my two year anniversary.

Haven't seen the movie in over a year, but the feelings are still just as strong. PAD/E. Now for a few weeks of intellectual/emotional/spiritual contemplation on the dreamworld we all share...

I watched Avatar (original version) on Friday 30th December last week for the first time since the group showing at the June meet up in Seattle. It was the closest I could get to my 2 year anniversary (22nd Dec).

Boy did it have the same effect ...and that felt good in a strange way that I know you will understand. Reminded me why I am still here with all you good aysmukan sì aysmukan.

I then had the pleasure of chatting with two Avatar aysmukan on Skype. Wow...just showed me how far I have come. Irayo James Cameron and your team for Avatar.

One thing I'm sorry to say is watching Avatar on a television has never had the same effect on me as watching it in a theater. And given that I've done both in the past week, I am sure of that.

I have often wondered if it would help if I got a larger television. Not that I would do so until my current television dies, but I have wondered that from time to time since the first time I saw Avatar on blu-ray.

It might - immersion is a big part of it, after all... if you can see other stuff in your peripheral vision, it gets a bit distracting.

I would go with what HNM says, Crickett. When I watched Avatar I was on my own. I had dimmed the lights right down to like cinema levels and turned the sound right up. I'm kinda fortunate as I have a surround sound system which really did the business.

I just need a bigger tele and some Avatar friends to watch it with for the icing on the cake!

Kaltxì Alan

Having Avatar friends to watch it with can be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view.

I don't know about you, but even after two years of watching it countless times, I still tend to remain in a state of almost silent reverence at the whole thing.

Yes, I'm still affected by it in that way.

Now, if others are present who feel the same way, perfect. I can even handle the odd exchange or two during scenes, but I have watched it several times where one or two people will not stop talking! For three hours!

Sorry this is turning into a rant

Ultimately, I suppose I just like to 'be there' and personally, I need to concentrate in order to immerse myself in to the whole experience.

Oel ngati kameie ma tsmukan. Well, that's because you are like all of us - you have Avatar running through you like a stick of Blackpool rock.

Hey no worries versicolor. I know exactly what you mean. It is different to watching it on your own. I must admit watching it on my own, I really sink in to it and completely zone out for 3 hours.

I was fortunate to have had the wonderful experience of watching Avatar with fellow Avatar fans at an IMAX and in a make shift cinema at a meet up. ...but in a good way

I hope you get to make it to a meet up for the experience. How you fixed for July...in Seattle?

Alan

Versicolor,
You need to do what my sweetie pie do. We go home, and watch it on our Home Theater System, (yes, our solar/wind battery system runs it just fine),
crank up the subwoofers for those wonderful subsonics, sit together in our loveseat recliner with our favorite snacks, her roasted Cashews, and I Kippered Snacks, or "Rollmops", and become part of the scenes.
Just watch it on your DVD or BlueRay at home with no one else there.

Right here, right now, that sounds like a great idea but circumstances may dictate otherwise. I would need to weigh up the situation closer to the time

Damn my job!

oh, irayo. My personal Avatar Day is February 17th (luckily for me I got a flu the next day & had the whole week to ponder & muse on What has happened to me??? & cry over Pandora... ) But I'll keep December 16 in mind for the next year to send my "from Pandora with Love" best wishes to my aytsmukan si aytsmuke!

^^same here. for me Avatar is something deeply personal, private, almost intimate, very "mine" - & watching it is an almost an enlighting spiritual experience. Why *almost* actually? It's "full tsaheylu".

I'll wait till Feb 17 & shall go to Pandora again. Don't expect me back any time soon

Added 15:29 Spanish time: I wanted to post it for quite a while but kept forgetting: just about the time Alan made this thread, a friend whom I haven't heard from in ages, went & posted 2 Avatar videos on my Facebook page as a Xmas greeting! I had no idea he was an Avatar fan, too! I never mentioned Avatar to him... & he goes & does it. ç"Go figure." "You should see my face!" O_O

How cool is that! I presume you've told him about the Avatar Meet in July? Hehehe.

I tell you it would just be soooo amazing to walk down the street with an Avatar T-Shirt on, or see someone with one on, and go 'Kaltxi. Oel ngati kameie...' Think I would be followed by then
