If your tattoo is still like what it looks like on the photos, you can let those shadows (and maybe some highlights) be added anytime. Just a suggestion, of course, because it would make it look even better imho, but if you're happy with it the way it is, it's just fine. Because it's under your skin and you're the one who has to be happy with it
 Btw, I'm thinking about inking something similar on my thigh or whereever. We'll see ^^
