Musical Dreams

It was about a month ago I had this dream. Except it was different from any dream I had. Instead of images, the dream was almost entirely a song. (There was a greenish-white energy that vibrated and moved around in a wave like pattern, but that was it) The song in the dream sounded sort of like a tribal song, and sort of similar to some of the soundtracks off of Avatar. Except, it wasn't in Na'vi or English, or any human language. There were definitely words, but not any spoken language known to man. But the song itself, the melody and words combined, was just so powerful. So absolutely peaceful, and feelings of complete love, compassion, care, serenity, tranquility, just so absolutely powerful. It was probably one of the best feeling things I'd ever felt.

I don't know what else to say, but I'll just ask if anyone else has ever had a dream like this, where there's not really much of an image just music.

I didn't have a music dream as such but something I can call "an experience": I was at Amma's program maybe 2-3 years ago, & got to listen to "1000 Names of the Mother of Universe" for the first time - & i was blown away. The solo, the Big Swami (Big because of his height, & because of his knowledge, too) has a very powerful voice; he would chant a verse in sanskrit, then the chorus repeated, the chant was "swinging", & his voice + the chorus + 2000+ persons in the hall + my own voice... everything suddenly "swirled" & it was like the whole Universe was made of "swirling sounds", which were "waves" at the same time. It was very similar to the eliminated "Dreamhunting" scene from Avatar, when Jake sees those multicoloured patterns unfolding. I was spaced out for the whole time - a good hour. And then this feeling...

So absolutely peaceful, and feelings of complete love, compassion, care, serenity, tranquility, just so absolutely powerful. It was probably one of the best feeling things I'd ever felt.

^^^^ this feeling lasted for some hours. It was definitely some Seeing experience - if the word Seeing can be applied to music.

(I got the "1000 Names..." CD & can "dive into the ocean of sounds" when I have the time - altho is rarely is as powerful as the very first time, but sometimes I get this luck).

I have dreams quite often with original music playing in the background. One reason I'd really like some type of music software would be to save some of these songs. I used to have some of them recorded, but I lost them more recently on a hard drive which was destroyed in a house fire.

My dream was thick golden clouds and mist, and a choir, singing deep, intense chords and singing words I could understand. It was almost in the style of Eric Whitacre but so much deeper. Most beautiful music I ever heard.

So Moco and Jones, you say you could both understand the words being sung? Or at least recognize them?

And Apache, great post. I think the word seeing should be applied to music. I mean it can be just as powerful as an image in terms of what it means. And the melody itself can carry meaning far beyond the words.

I said I couldn't understand the language. I don't even know if it was words or just vowels being sung.
But somehow I found profound meaning and feeling in the music.

The music doesn't always have words (most often doesn't), but when it does, I generally wake up knowing what they were, even if they don't quite make sense anymore I do almost always dream about music along with whatever else is happening, and over half the time, it's not something I've heard anywhere else. About four years ago, I dreamed about a new genre of music, though I can barely remember what it consisted of anymore.

How in the world can you remember that, I couldn't even remember the chords in my dream a second after I woke up.

I don't know. Someday, I'll have what I need to keep track of new songs, which is something I've looked forward to for a long time.

Don't feel bad, I haven't had a single dream since I came out of the Coma at an Army Hospital in 1970. I go to sleep, it's "lights out", I wake up, it's "lights on".
When I was in the deep coma, I didn't float over my body, didn't see any tunnel, or lights, it was "lights out system off". to "lights on, system on".

if one day you will have all you need to make music, & you'll make music that you first heard in a dream... I reckon that will be very cool!

oh noooo I was hoping to hear: "(while in the hospital) I started having these flying dreams..." (don't take me seriously please I am only joking; my strange sense of humor causes these faces sometimes so i prefer to warn).

But (a wee bit more) seriously speaking... heh "lights out - system off" might be quite a relief actually! I remember a period when I was Bombarded by some very vivid dreams; imagine to watch several movies that cause you "an Avatar effect", 3-4 of them, one after the other? it was something like this, 3-4 dreams of this caliber a night during 4 months. It was a dream avalanche. I was exhausted.
So the nights I had NO dreams were... Phew! what a relief. Altho after a relatively long No-dream period I would probably be bored ah well. I guess the right balance, again, is the key.

I didn't have to dream about flying, it was what I DID in the Army, and had been doing it since I was fourteen years old. After I got out of the Hospital, I returned to flight, and have been doing it ever since.

Niri Te flies! Flying is the dream! And she is teaching me, as well.
I often dream in full color with background music and plots that are distorted and combined from movie plots I have just watched. Sometimes I speak or sing in an unknown language but everyone else in the dream seems to understand me.
(Lately my dreams include gathering artichoke-like plants on Pandora to share as food.)
I never remember the music past a few minutes, though it is usually a full orchestral score!

It'll happen eventually, but as I say with so many other things, it isn't such a priority
