Default Thousands of Endangered Fruit Bats Were Gunned Down in Lebanon

Disgusting.

Thousands of Endangered Fruit Bats Were Gunned Down in Lebanon | Green Prophet

Quote:
Thousands of fruit bats could have used Batman’s help last weekend when one or more unidentified assailants unleashed a spray of shotgun and AK-47 shells inside a cave in northern Lebanon. This senseless massacre wiped out at least 5,000 of these highly endangered flying mammals who populated the largest colony in the Middle East. Animal Encounter founder Dr. Mounir Abi-Said told The Daily Star that the bats didn’t die right away and that they probably crawled to shelter.
It's times like these I wish I was capable of stringing people up and giving them a piece of their own medicine. I wonder how the individual(s) responsible for this would react if they were put in front of a firing squad armed with shotguns and assault rifles, shot up within an inch of their lives, and left to slowly bleed out in horrible pain, like they inflicted on these bats.

(Oh hell, I'll just settle for a hidden warehouse, massive sheets of plastic wrap, and a boat capable of getting me to the North Atlantic current).*

Even worse was that: 1) These bats are endangered as it is, losing 5000 bats with the capability of breeding is a major blow to this species' existential future, and 2) it was the largest colony in the Middle East. The people who did this might have just single-handedly thrown a local ecosystem out of whack.

*I kid, of course. (Or possibly not!!)

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden
