You might be addicted to Avatar when.....

A few of those apply to me... more or less.

#2 - I already have a very long braided pony tail... but after seeing Avatar, I decided to let it get even longer.
#21 - I really like the soundtrack from the movie, and I also like listening to the re-mixes some people have done. Very creative stuff out there.
#26 - I don't carry my bow and arrows everywhere, but I am an avid bow hunter, I bagged a nice pronghorn antelope a year or so ago with my compound Kodiak. Most of the time, I just get lost in the mountains tho.
#46 - I have a (psudo) Na'vi name on this forum. I came up with the name by taking the last parts of Tsu-tey and Eytukan, hense ..."Tey'Kan".

And... my own proof that I am addicted to Avatar, I do alot of "repaints" for Flight Simulator and I have several aeroplanes painted in the blue Na'vi skin patterns, as well as paints on other models that make them look like ikrans. They are for my personal enjoyment. I think that some aeroplane types look as if they could have had a part in the movie.

I really don't do 36, because I've got so much from Avatar than I never would have otherwise - I wouldn't want to lose that even for it again, and while Avatar has given me so much happiness, also so much pain.

thinking over... I would actually agree. To see Avatar again for the first time (if it were possible) so that it hits you at 1000 miles per hour - that would be great. But to feel utterly lonely & desperate cos nobody in RL seems to understand "what the big deal about just a movie"? to feel that your life is "split" - everything that has to do with Avatar is a cause worth living for, whereas something that used to be your "normal life" seems to be lacking sense & purpose? to go on like this for months? until you discover the forums, eventually start calling people (that you had no idea existed, or what they looked like, or where they lived), 'aytsmukan si aytsmuke', & begin to really care for them, & then get all fired up for a meetup on the other side of the world cos you're dying to see your Avatar family 'for real' for the first time ever? Is it worth it?

It IS worth it, no doubt - only that, given the opportunity to see Avatar for the first time again I would like to have an option to discover the forums the Next day! & to just dive in.

I guess my perspective is that I didn't really get PAD as such, but it was like my life was suddenly turn 90 degrees and sent in a completely different direction that became an adventure of a lifetime for me. Would I like to experience that again - HELL YEAH! To live through all that discovery about myself and the wider world 'out there', forming new friendships that had a deeper meaning than I had experienced before and do things I had no idea I was ever capable of,...to live through that again, for me, would be amazing - just to know that it really happened and it was not a dream. It makes me so grateful for this experience.

How much this meant to me was brought home when I was accidently 'banned' for AF due to an Admin error. I found out in the morning before I had to go to work. I really felt my heart sink, like never before. It was a hard day to get through. When I go home I rushed to log in again to find out ma tsmukan, Prowler, had tried to find out what had happened. When normal service resumed, I knew how much this family meant to me. You really don't know how much things mean to you until they are taken away.

I may not have the highest count on the 'addiction scale', but I know my Avatar family matters so much to me....ooo....kinda poured out my heart a bit there ...but somehow, I know you all know what I mean.

That is pretty cool Tey'kan, I build and fly Experimental Aircraft, and am gettint ready to put the cloth skin on an HM 293 Flying Flea that I am building. It will be painted to look like Tsu'tey's Ikran, top sides, and bottom.

Some time ago my boss Dr.Grace Toruk Makto announced that our company is on sale, and, most probably, we'll have a new database - meaning, no more NAVI (NAVIsion - the current database). I felt bereaved! It was this, "sinking heart feeling", I know perfectly well what you meant Alan. What?! I shall not see a little square double-blue white-dotted icon with NAVI in caps under it? & shall not type again "in NAVI: (... data ...)" in whatever docs I usually put it?! Man, I felt cheated! I really felt sad about it - altho, come on, this database was in the company long before Avatar, & it's creators had no idea about the Na'vi, their complexion & white dots... But my reaction was like: "Oh sh**! We're screwed!"

In the end I spoke to the programmer guy - the only person I can talk Avatar about in the office; he is not in love with it like me but at least he liked the movie & he respects my feelings. I told him my "predicament". He said: "Wow, Goodness, I can't imagine what it must have been like for you when you came in! But don't worry: whatever the database, change or no, I'll keep this icon for you. It's a done deal " And goody, was it a relief! it might seem silly but this sort of situations make you realize just how much Avatar, and everything to do with it, means to you...

WOW, you have it BAD, girl. I guess that one of the reasons that Avatar struck so many different chords, on so many different levels, is that apart from BEING Trudy for years while being in the Army, and apart from FEELING at my core what Jake said about finding just one thing in his life WORTH dying for, being half Native American, I was raised with the understanding of "the wheel', and a reverence for the planet that feeds, clothes, shelters, and nurtures us.
Because of all that, it wasn't so much a "new" eye opening, Earth shattering revelation to me, as an extreme case of COMING HOME.
Here I found a number of people from all over the planet, many of whom are not Native by first birth, who have seen this story, taken it's message to heart, and because of their new found ability to NINGAY KAME the truth that was glossed over, and covered by corporate lies, and a learned from childhood greed, have, if they accepted the call to awakening, recieved a SECOND birth. Not to a Na'vi body, but to a Na'vi SPIRIT which will outlast the body.

aw irayo for caring for me Bad? ahh the bad thing I guess is not to have anybody in RL (real life) to talk forever about Avatar - but hey, I have the forum & when we meet in Seattle it will be Very real! I am sure it's close to "the balance of all things" - that Eywa maintains on Pandora. My baboushka was not a native but had a very similar attitude: talking to trees & plants & animals & giving thanks to the forest for mushrooms & "sorry, I didn't mean to break this branch". I got it from her, & the Na'vi way seemed the rightest way - I was already prepared.

I tried to come up with some long, drawn out explanation of my beliefs on 'the wheel" and I just can't make something that is so simple, long and complex.
I was born, the energy that makes up my spirit shrouding itself in matter, my body. I am not the body, I am the energy, but the energy uses the body to experience things sensually, that as spirit, pure energy, it can not experience in such a manner while in this dimension.
In this dimension, I am a predator. not prey. As such, I have certain responsibilities. I do not kill prey for a trophy, I kill prey for sustainance for myself, and those around me that are not hunters.
When I make the kill, I thank the animal for it's sacrifice, and honor it by using every last part of it for something useful.
Death is not my enemy, and it is not my friend, it is a door that I will I will pass through when I have learned, experienced, and accomplished what I needed to while in this dimension. The energy that my body used while I was here, it must give back, when my time to leave this dimension has come.
Sorry, ma tsmuke, I can't make what is simple complicated. sometimes the ways that I walk the path of the warrior can seem to have complicated rules, but the path itself, which follows the circumference of the wheel is simple.

oh, but that's a great explanation. No need to turn something simple into something complicated. I See what you're saying, absolutely. Some I learned from my experiences & some from books, but when something is right one just clicks with it, "this must feel inside"; there are "little bells ringing".

Only one thing about Death (hehe I was Just talking to somebody about it!): I learned a whole load from Don Juan's Teachings, in a nutshell: the awareness of Death & that it can tell you "Come!" any second makes one to live fully, each day as if it were the last, take responsibility for one's actions, realize that not all dreams & plans come true - but if one does the best one can in any situation, at least one's conscience will be clean. The best is different, say, when you're sick - & when you're in perfect health, but it should be "the best" one can manage. In this case, if one is respectful to Death it can become one's friend, or at least a companion, & warn him/her of a danger. It will not come suddenly but rather give a timely warning so that one can "wrap all unfinished business", make peace with everyone, and "dance the last dance". In the darkest hour, ask: "Death, is it my time?" Most probably, it will reply: "Hmm... naaah! I haven't touched you yet. Go play rabbit. Live is short - but it's wide!" And everything will seem glory! I made my peace with Death during parachuting, when the two - the main & the reserved one - opened at the same time & could tangle any second I really wondered if that was "my time"! But as you see I am still alive

The rest - like "all energy is borrowed & one day we have to give it back" - clicks just fine with my philosophy. Irayo for the teaching ma Niri Te
