One New Thing You Didn't know About Avatar

Ok after two years one would think they know quite a bit, or most things about most things to do with Avatar, apparently not! I'm still finding discovering, learning new things, that I didn't know before.

So I thought would be neat to start a game where we could just all drop those 'random' new personal discoveries about Avatar, Pandora, the Na'vi, that might not need a new thread in and of itself, as probably out there in the archives, its already posted, but individually, we missed that post, so its just new to "us" at this time.

It's Kind of like a game we used to play as a family around the supper table, where as kids we had to tell 'one new thing' we learned today, but in this case only AVATAR related stuff.

So here it goes, my 'newly' learned thing ..

That its known that Na'vi History goes back 18,000 years, and is considered to have been rather 'acurately maintained' through the use of mnemonic storytelling aids called Song Cords, strings of colored beads and bits of stone, bone and plant pieces which, when handled during singing, create a correlation of tactile and visual cues with verbal sequences. Each individual creates a Song Cord that is their personal history, and community Song Cords are created for various social purposes, including family and clan history, genealogy, and even the recording of astronomical and accounting information.

I had always wondered just how old the 'First Songs' were .. and now I know!
