Na'vi language assitance please?

What I am looking for in the Na'vi language is small talk of everyday.
Which could be used on Tera Firma or Pandora.
It would be nice if someone who has the knowledge to actually make a book on learnnavi.org that would read like a regular tourist handbook. It would make learning alot easier. Especially for those of us that dont have groups to belong to.

Example: Do you think you will go fishing tomorrow?
Yes, if the weather is nice.

Or even having phrase availiable like- I hope so
Or -How was your day?
I mean simple things like that...I have been memorizing words for over a year now. Infact I have the entire back of the survivalist Na'vi dict. memorized but dont know how to put it all together properly...
Can anyone help with this?

Well there is this book (<--link)but I don't think it focuses much on every small talk type stuff.

I have the knowledge to make a phrase book, but not the time. Being a full time music major takes all my time, I barely have any time to get on the forums. If it helps, I can translate the sentences you have on here:

1) (phrase about fishing) Srake fpìl ngal futa tayaron fayoangit moel trray?
Srane, txo yafkeyk lu sìltsan

2) I hope so...this would probably just be "sìlpey oe" but if you're going to specify what is hoped, then it would be "sìlpey oe tsnì (thing hoped)"

3) How was your day? Ngeyä trr samalew fyape?

Hope that helps a little. One day I WILL make that basic phrases book.

Hmm.....well we could possibly say "oeyä trrit leykivu" but that would be a little weird in Na'vi because it would translate to 'make/cause my day (to) be _______.' Idk if it's possible to have a sentence like that in Na'vi because normally we have to make the day be something. We could say "oeyä trrit leykivu sìltsan" (make my day good) which would work in Na'vi, but I don't think that's quite what you're going fo in the English. Idk, what you think?

Simple everyday phrases, huh? Have you checked the PHRASE appendix of the LearnNavi dictionary?

Also, since you have been memorizing the ASG, please go now and UN-MEMORIZE it. (there are a few really cruddy words in there that should not even be counted canon)


If you wanna know quick how to put sentences together, why not check out Na'vi in a Nutshell? It's the most popular grammar guide on LearnNavi.org It's popular because it's not OVERLY technical, and does a decent job of explaining a LOT of the grammar. It is laid out in a way that makes sense as well. look over that, and you will know how to build sentences.

If you have questions, of course feel free to post them.

As for your "tourist guide" book, none like it exist, but it is indeed a BRILLIANT idea.
(but of course the only problem is, it doesn't teach you the language. it just causes you to just memorize a few lines, not necessarily how to put them together yourself when you need to say something else)

Well, the ASG itself is fine, if you ignore all the language parts

Na'vi in a nutshell is excellent, even have learned a few things from that that have stuck, and I am by my own admission really bad at the language...

Well the stuff in the back of the ASG is mostly correct. But yeah the 'words' in the chapter about the Na'vi are horrible.

Perhaps if I make a tourist guide I'll include some grammar stuff too so people will know how the language works That's a long way in the future tho. I have college to focus on now.

Yes I have tried these things and have learned much. Though I still cant find simple phrase like...........I do, I dont, I will, I wont,
things like that.

Well for 'I will' and 'I won't' usually an action has to be specified i.e. oe tse'a, I do (see); oe ke tse'a, I don't (see) tho I'm sure for just a general 'I do' We could say "oe kem si." Now for 'I will' and 'I won't' we can say "tsakem sayi oe" 'I will (do that)'; and "tsakem ke sayi oe" 'I won't (do that)'. Making sense yes?
