Default Does Earth have Pandora as a moon?

Ok, now I've got your attention (hehehe)

I went down the road to the shops tonight to get some stuff....as yer do and I looked up at the sky to see three bright objects all in a line! So I got my phone and use the star map app thingy to find out what they were. Anyway if you take a look a the piccies below what you are looking at the Moon, Venus and Jupiter! The bightest being the Moon, the middle one Venus and the last one in the line Jupiter. Amazing or what! :nlol:

Hope you all found them interesting. It was nice to pretend...just for a moment...that one of them was Pandora...so close...Ahhhh..

Ateyo and I are going over to our old Veteran friend's house at around 18:00 our time, so we will make it a point to show it to him. There is not a cloud in the sky, if I owned a scope, it will be VERY stabilized viewing tonight, and the nearest lights are forty miles away. THANK YOU!!

You also live in Texas.

Alan lives in Britain.

I don't know if/how this will change it, but keep that in mind.

If it is of any help I managed to get this info of a sky/space map app thingy:

Venus:
Rises at 14.52
Sets at 03.40
Elevation 66 degrees

Jupiter:
Rises at 15.45
Sets at 04.57
Elevation 70 degrees

So with the rise and set times close together and roughly at the same elevation, you should see them close together. Just look to the west-ish around night fall I guess.

We went over to our friend's house, and before we were thirty feet inside the door, we told Mo, about the sight outside, and he came out in his stocking feet, (wiggling his toes?). to see the sight.
He told us to be sure to thank you Allen, so please consider this your official TEXAS Thank You!!!

Txantsan! Glad you got to see it Niri Te! Quite a sight, hey?

Yeah, HNM, I only managed to see it because I went out to do some shopping down the road. Ended you showing a neighbour and two kids who were on their bikes!

It was nice Alan, do you remember when Venus made it's close approach back in the late 1980's ? How about the planetary conjunction in 1983 or 84?

Errr....afraid not. I was only a wee kiddy back then. Talking of Venus...It will pass in front of the sun this year, so if you use a welding mask and a pair of binoculas (never look directly at the sun, especially with binoculas) you should be able to see it pass in front!

Alan, that's a couple of pretty neat shots there.

I was looking up at the same thing here in Alaska the other evening and thinking i should take a photo.

A little higher. They are out again tonight, but both closer to the moon. Venus is actually "below" the moon now.

Similar to how the Moon and Venus where around this past Christmas...

(Taken in southern California)
