Default Hey guys! Long time no see. :)

How is everyone?? God, I haven't been here in so long... I miss you guys! I've been looking at this board in the past few days thinking about you all! I hope everybody's been wonderful since my absence. I want to catch up with everyone here, since I miss ToS and it's people so much! :navi hugs:

The last time I was here, some of you read that I left to Hawaii for a while to get myself straight & try to find myself. Well, I'm back in the United States in Jersey again because of the recent Fukushima incident last year. Upon first hearing about the nuclear radioactive storm happening in Japan, I didn't want to risk myself in Hawaii & catch any of the contamination around the area. So I left early on and headed back home to be safe.

Right now, I'm taking college to get myself back up on my feet & get a part-time job to support myself at the moment. So far, things have been going pretty good... But honestly, I missed hanging out here with everyone. Even though I've been gone for a very long time, I don't think I would ever be able to leave this place permanently. Tree of Souls has a special place in my heart that it's hard to find in this world.

I hope to catch up with you all soon! I'll make a reply as soon as you guys are able to make a post!

Oel Ngati Kameie,

....I'm pretty sure there isn't much danger of contamination in Hawaii.

There was a really great chart posted somehwere in the thread about Fukushima that rated the power of different levels of radioactivity and the amount of time needed for it to do damage.

I'm pretty sure some garbage from the general area isn't going to do anything to you, especially since the main issues with the fuel rods happened long after the actual tsunami.

Regardless, howdy. I don't know you, but welcome back. Lots has changed, and we are having a mass Avatar-fan meetup (not quite a con) in July.

You're right, there isn't much danger in Hawaii with the Fukushima contamination. At least, not yet. As far as I've heard on the news, there's only very little going on there right now. But I wanted to be cautious and return back home just to be in the safe side.

Really? There is? May I have the link on the Fukushima radation contamination levels please? I would like to see it.

I know, I think you're one of the new ones here. In that case, Howdy! I was here when Avatar Forums & ToS first started, and then came back here every once in a blue moon. Lol I always come back though, since this is one of my favorite places in the world..

Ya, I've seen that! In Seattle right?? I can't go there unfortunately, due to the lack of funds available and also having to take college into account. Hopefully there will be an Avatar Meet-Up next year though!

Hey Txantsulsam!!

Glad to see that you come down here every so often. *big hug*
It's frightening to think that there were fears of radiation going all the way to hawaii and even in the pacific back in the early days, but luckily you were cautious all the same.

So you're back at college huh? Found a degree that you like?

Welcome back

That was definitely an overreaction about Hawaii - any extra barely registered at all, and ~15% of background dose is artificial anyway, primarily from weapons tests. Saying 'not yet' doesn't really apply, since it isn't like that situation is going to change. There are still people alive in Ukraine/Russia, after all - the chart is http://imgs.xkcd.com/blag/radiation.png . - if you've ever had a single X-ray, that's a much larger dose.

There will be a meetup next year, I hope we'll see you there, sorry you couldn't come to this one

Hey guys! Irayo everybody, for the warm welcome. I'm happy to be back here again with my ToS family. I miss hanging out with you all again, there's nothing quite like it communicating with like-minded people that love Avatar.

(Think there should be a Na'vi hug expression on this website... Lol)

As promised, here are all of my replies to those who posted in this thread.

To Fosus/SaphirJD/Stanley_9875: Kaltxì ma tsmukans! Long time no see! I'm glad to see that you all are still here and that none of you have permanently left. :na'vi hugs:

And a shout out to all the new people that I have yet to meet! I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know you.

Hey there Pa'li! *hugs* I know, me too! It's exciting to see that you all are still here... I can't wait to chat with you all again! As far as the Fukushima incident goes, I didn't want to be too careful and think it would never happen. Yet at the same time I didn't want to risk staying there only to be struck by the contamination carrying through the debris/ocean and prove myself wrong. Sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry in this case.

Surprisingly, yes I'm actually in college at this point... And I usually hate college. Lol Right now, I'm only taking a certificate rather than a degree due to the high costs of the program I'm in. The courses I'm taking right now are based off on alternative therapy (eg, acupuncture, massage, yoga, herbalism, nutrition, traditional chinese medicine, etc). Rather than having to take the convential medical or pharmaceutical route, I decided to go the other way and see what I can do to cure diseases via natural and holistic therapy. I will probably be finishing this certificate program by the end of this year...

Haha you're probably right at this point! But there were also other factors involved that made my decision to leave early too. I was running out of time to be able to get free plane tickets from my family (one of them is a pilot) and the age restriction limit was 21 years old. I was just going to turn 21 last year and I would be stuck with having to pay a lot of money to fly back to the United States alone. The price to get back here in the East Coast would be well over a $1000... So I wasn't ready to risk spending that much money and not really having the chance to see my family again afterwards.

Thanks for the radiation graph paper! I'll keep that in my bookmark files and save it for future reference. Oh really? That's great! I'm glad that there's going to be a new meetup next year. I know, it's sad that I can't go this time around.. I gotta finish my college certificate first before I go anywhere that's expensive. There's also me being deaf to consider, since it would be hard for me to interact with others in a group setting. I think it would be a little bit unfair for me to pull everybody back from the fun because of it. Unless there's an interpreter involved of course. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to get the chance next year! Only time will tell...

TEWTXI I wish I had taken the time to learn ASL. I hope that you will find ways of communicating at meet-ups. Niri Te is stone deaf in one ear but aside from a few military/commando hand signals, I have failed to learn ASL. But it definitely something I need to address. (Beethoven always carried a notepad beecause he became deaf.)
(Amer Indians deleoped sign language to speaks among differing tribes) As a Na'vi you could use sign. PS I think it is great that you are learning alternative healing styles.
