Naww, you don't look like an ass for creating it.
It's an interesting discussion that could possibly take place later on and have it done for good use. How would you like the thread to be made? Going back to Na'vi cosplay, I'm also curious about the bow n' arrows, spears, knives and the creative native costumes that the Na'vi used during the war with the RDA. Are there any real models based on them for sale? If so, that would be fantastic for an additional add-on to the overall style!

I already made it ma Txansulsam Fyawintxu, it is in the general discussion area, so it will get a bunch of lurks, if nothing else. Be prepared for the "purists" to "poo-poo" anything other than the premise that people that don't have the money for a new total electric car should move back to the "rat's nest", unless and they CAN afford one. That's OK, I'm hoping that they DO, because I will "shoot them down in flames" with the concept of looking at "Total System Footprint".

That looks like so much fun to take part in! Now I really want to go this year! Shoot... Glad to finally see all of the Avatar fans uniting and seeing what they look like in person! Hi guys! LolYeah, that's the only sad part... :/ Now that I see the video, it does seem like it won't compare to the realistic side of painting the skin. Hmm... Back to the drawing board! Dx *scribbles up my idea list* Quote:
What's the difference between that knife and the one that you buy from actual cosplay? Lost in Collectibles - Jake Sully's Dagger Replica Yeah I know, definitely! Me too! I want to have a similar bow to Jake's, the one with feathers and all. Now that would be really awesome! If not, I could probably find a regular bow and decorate it with fashioned feathers and paint it... I'm also thinking of making a spear in the same way, a war-like Na'vi spear with these colored feathers: lush bright green and royal blue colors, dashed with some deep red & gold on it. What do you think?

[QUOTE=Txantsulsam Fyawintxu;170365]Hahaha glad that you found the one you were looking for ma tsmuke!
Really? A 16 oz won't run out over a period of using it for your body? That's interesting... I wonder how many times you can do it til it runs out? Thanks for the information! ![]() I HOPE IKXERU DOESN'T MIND, BUT HERE IS THE INFO HE SHARED WITH ME: PAX is not a trademark. It's a mixture of Prosthestic Aide and LiquiteX acrylic colour. You can get perfect PAX from Jesse's SFX-store at PAX Paint or mix your own. If you do so, mix 1 part Pros-Aide and 1 part acrylic color by weight. But avoid all colors with a hazard symbol. Because you don't want to have neither nano particles (which can come thru the skin barrier) nor heavy metals inside your body. If it is your first time of using PAX, simply use the ready-made one. It's quality is excellent and you don't have to care of mixing the right colors. I need around 4-6 oz of base color paint for my full body and around 2-4 oz of paint for the stripes. You can apply PAX to all regions of the body, but be extremly careful around the eyes. For the small region near the eyelashes use theatrical grease paint or water-based make-up instead. Once Sarah Noel asked me some questions about PAX as well and I think it's the best to send you these informations, too: PAX is wonderful. In my opinion. It is easy to apply, very sustainable and it is waterproof against cold water. PAX itself has an enormous tack and has to be powdered with translucent powder to eliminate the tack effect. After that the look is incredible. And it feels like a 2nd skin, I mean you sense that there is something on your skin, but looks and feels as it is just your skin. You most probably know "Wonder Wedges" (triangular sponges), which I use to do the base make-up. It may be necessary that you would have to apply a second layer of PAX for a second layer. PAX can be thinned with water, which has two effects: It reduces the tack and is good for the second layer as it tends to clump if you apply too much color at one go. After each layer I powder with a large powder puff using translucent powder (e.g. from Ben Nye). Excessive powder can be blown off or even rinsed off with cold water immediatly after powdering. Thereafter you can touch everything and sit everywhere without taking care of smearing a chair or something... I paint the stripes with make-up brushes or half-size cutted Wonder Wedges. I fray the sponges, so that I can paint the blurred patterns inside the stripes. (Which I will have to practice again and again.) As PAX's consistency is somewhat between creamy and pasty you can paint even the smallest details you want. When I use brushes, I always have a plastic cup with brush-cleaner nearby. Don't let the paint dry on the brush, as it will ruin it. Use some brush cleaner with citric acid, it will destroy the tack effect and the pigment of the color will be rinsed off the brush and cluster at the bottom of the cup, so you have always fresh and clean brush cleaner on top. The full body can be painted blue within one hour, but painting the stripes can take several hours, because I like the details. I can paint for hours on someone else's skin, but if I paint myself, I am always impatient. ![]() This is something I have to learn as well. After telling you all of the advantages of PAX, I don't want to conceal that there is a disadvantage as well: The removal. This can be very strenuous and can be a long lasking task. First I have a shower with very warm water and a lot of liquid soap. This will remove a lot of the paint. But on that places of the skin with three or four layers of PAX (where the stripes are), this may not remove the paint. Do not think of rubbing the paint off, as it is not good for the skin. I found out that gently rubbing of the paint is not as bad as I thought. It is in fact quite okay.[ Instead of that: Use Pros-Aide-Remover. This is a special product which eliminates the tack-effect of Pros-Aide, so it can be washed off. It smells... well, "special" ![]() I apply the remover with a spray flask and softly rub it in with an old, but soft towel. Then the paint begins to form clumps and falls off. This can take a long time and maybe it has to be done again several times on the same section... And, if someone can help you with the removal, it is done very quick. Well it was quick with my test paintings, but for the whole body it takes some hours to remove the paint. Original Pros-Aide remover comes in a blue spray bottle and works very well. In the end I think the demanding job to remove the paint was worth the look of the make-up! |

@Ateyo leSyaksyuk: Wow, that's a very lengthy post! Thanks for all the detailed information.
I'm very new to all this stuff, but have been wanting to cosplay as a Na'vi myself for a very long time. I never had the money to be able to do so tho. :/ So I waited for 2 years and finally came back. Now I'm starting a list of what to do for my Avatar Na'vi costume. It's good to know that the PAX paint doesn't have extremely high toxicity or harsh metals or chemicals throughout. I've actually been wondering if there were a paint of such kind, but thankfully there is. I would most definitely not use anything that would be harmful for my skin, especially after prolonged use. So this is a good alternative for me. I hate having to use anything that's not sustainable or good for the environment and our health. Aside from that, I understand the whole stripes thing. I'm very keen on detail and would probably need another person to help me out. Unfortunately, I don't know anybody who is an artist or is willing to help out with mah stripe looks. Lol so I suppose I'll have to do it myself. It'll be an interesting learning process... The fact that you said it feels like a 2nd skin, is actually the whole reason why it's so hard for removal. Lol most of the time, based on my personal experience, paint can be rather tough to take off unless you have an extremely good scrubber or liquid available. I actually have some herbal shampoo/body wash that might help... I'll probably use that and see how it works. If it fails, then I'll go for the Pros-Aide-Remover. Haha! Yeah right, as if I have enough money to buy a parrot just to pluck it's feathers off. It's like torture! Imagine trying to pull off a bunch of hairs on your skin and removing it. Ouch! Lol the hobby store looks like a good idea tho.

My theory is that any YAYO (bird) on Pandora would resemble an archeopteryx from prehistoric times. They are in the fossil record(on Earth), but WE get to imagine the feather coloration! ONE LAST WORD THOUGH: NIRI TE HAS A SUPERBIKE FROM THE 1980s THAT HAS FOUR CARBURATORS THAT NEED TO BE REBUILT. WITH ANY LUCK SHE CAN HAVE HER TWO LEGGED PA'LI UP AND RUNNING IN TIME TO GET OUR BLUE TXIMS TO SEATTLE. CROSS YOUR FINGERS AND SEND GOOD VIBES. CAN YOU PICTURE MY BLUE TAIL FLAPPING IN THE BREEZE? |
