Default Check out my Neytiri feather necklace!

This project was really challenging for me. The time it took to find the right materials and tools, practically scavenging for the right feathers and the time it took to make the darn thing (I had made 2 prior attempts before I finally got it right) took a good 2 years to make. But I love the end result and think it was downright worth it.
I've never figured out how to use the darn URL thing to post pictures on here, so here's the link to the photo of it on my Deviantart pagefeel free to comment here or on deviantart.

That is very, very beautiful.
I like how you added more tropical feathers to the brown ones, it gives the necklace a nice contrast.
The braiding of the cord looks very neat as well.

I got the majority of my feathers from ebay. I finally gave up looking for the "good feathers" in the store because most are just dyed crap. The brown and greyish-tan feathers are different species of rooster tail feathers. The red feathers are pheasant tail feathers; the white-heart w/ black and brown are also pheasant that are found on their chest. And the yellow feathers are yellow macaw feathers. Those are nice. I have no idea what the striped feather is. I just found it at Hobby Lobby. But it was the exact same one in the movie, so . . .

Thanks! I think so too. As for the cord, it was just really thick hemp that I found at Wal-mart

That took two years? Either way, it would probably take me the same amount of time to find such nice feathers.

If you were to look on ebay, you'd find them very easily if you knew what you were looking for. Unfortunately, it just took me 2 years to figure that out Look up a little further and you'll see that I made a comment on what feathers I used

I see that, but I'd rather not buy them online. Anyway, that's why I don't make nice things like this.

maybe . . . but fair warning: If you want to make something that includes nice things like these feathers, online is the only place you'll be able to find them. Trust me. I spent two years scavenging every craft store out there until I finally said "screw this!"

I don't know about craft stores. I'vs found most of my nice feathers walking around at the zoo. Anyway, I'm a big online shopper and the only reason I'd rather not buy feathers online is because of color and texture possibly being different from what I anticipated.
