This problem isn't exclusive to shooters. I would say that publishers are more to blame though. I don't know who's worse, EA (with their plan on alternating between MOH and BF every year) or Activision (yearly COD releases alternating between studios). Oh well, lets wait and see what Respawn Entertainment can cook up.

I could see why it would do this because CoD is proclaimed to be the most popular game francise and almost every teen who has a PC, PS3 or 360 knows the title. As for it beating avatar's sales, I could care less about a thing like I care less about of how it has the greatest most awasomest multiplayer in the world.
The only shooter game francise I'm intrested in is Medal of Honor. I've only played Allied Assult and just like that, even though I haven't played any others yet, I'm a loyal fan to the seires. CoD might have the best popularty and the sales, but MoH has the loyal fans who aprecatte the message they recieve from the francise that Steven Spielburg created after Saving Privete Ryan. Kind of like the loyal avatar fans dispite it being blown away by the hurt locker at the accadamy awards.

I agree with you Rainbowhawk about Allied Assualt. I don't remember how many times I played through that game (as well as its expansions; Spearheard, Breakthrough) but I always loved it. It had a different feel, like you were actually working through the game rather than just blasting away.
My favorite level was was the sub base. Sneaking in pretending to be a Nazi and blowing it up and getting out. D-Day was cool but the missions following it were kinda meh. The last level on breakthrough was awesome. I vaguely remember it, but I think it had something to do with working through enemy territory to get to a house that had friendlies in it and holding it off till help arrives.

Ahh see NOW ya got me...and here I was going to play it safe and say I was a "hyper-intelligent shade of the color blue", but no I chose the OTHER option. Then again only ONE of those is actually aimed at a person, the other is being used to shoot a sparkly, glowy, light orb thing that controls gravity.
