No it doesn't, but that is far from the only reason. In fact, I would say the reasons given are in chronological order with #4 being the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Each reason is separate and distinct from the others. The only reason Mass Effect 3 was even mentioned in reason #3 was because DLC had been part of the discourse in another thread on this forum.

As far as the multitude of games out there, I'd like to think that up until now I've covered all of my bases. Racing games, RPG's, shooters, fighting games, sports games, dungeon crawlers, casual games and so on and so forth.

I realize I could continue to play some or many of the old games I have. Heck, I have a friend who doesn't play anything past the days of Nintendo 64 and despite the system barely working, we still play that.

However, that only lasts as long as my older consoles hold out and continue to function. I've learned over the years that eventually, they break down.

Between my three friends and I who played Nintendo 64, we have 1 barely working system.

And regarding PC games, well, one of my favorites is Command and Conquer the first decade. But the older the game is that I try to play, the less frequently it properly functions. I'm an avid Diablo 2 player, but I haven't been able to play that game without the expansion in *YEARS*. No computer I or anyone I know will run it.

With comics, at least I can bag and board the ones that aren't prestige format. And the ones that are prestige are usually pretty sturdy. With the games I have, even if I stick with the old ones, the day is going to come when I simply can't play them.

I've never had my gameboy crap out on me, and the one time my N64 did, it was easy to fix. As far as the carts, they're easy to get into. Sure, I can't play them forever, but I'm going to keep them around as long as possible

Emulation. You don't even need a good PC; the NES' processor is 2MHz with a 5MHz graphics chip - it's also completely above-board if you own the games in question.

GOG.com - old games reworked to be compatible with modern OSes and without DRM.
Failing that, there are various guides for making older games work... I have a few win98-era games which work on 7 without a problem; some out of the box, others via compatibility mode or some trivial hack. Either way, the PC is the easiest platform around to keep older stuff working with a little effort and knowledge and without the vintage hardware itself.

That's a consequence of companies putting Digital Restrictions Management with games, particularly consoles - but if course, if you still own the game, you can always make a backup and use emulation to play it. My games that I consider 'lost' are almost entirely PS2 games, and PS2 emulation is still far more advanced than it was, just not working for all games yet.
