Wonderful Drewan! Well you'll be there for the bulk of it. All the really cool stuff will be happening over the weekend
Btw, I noticed you live in South Oregon. I'm from the Portland area (not south, I know but still OR), what about you? -Txonä Rolyu

I live in Eagle Point (just outside of Medford)--A bit warmer than Northern Oregon
...did live for over 10 years in Portland--Powell's Books is one of the first places I head when I'm there (the original one on 10th & Burnside). Still have quite a few friends up there.....Yes Alan---was a bit "interesting" for a few--makes you wonder about Hotel desk people....... I've got most of the trip lined up now--Clan meal is paid for & got a couple more t-shirts--now to set aside a few hundred $$ more--CAN'T WAIT!!!!! Last edited by Drewan; 04-02-2012 at 06:39 AM. |

Eeeeek! Yeah! Only three months to go now. Now would be a good time for all those who haven't registered on www.Avatarmeet.com and booked their rooms at the hotel to do so...

I'm afraid not, ma Txona, our jeeps computerized engine management system quit, so I went and bought a vehicle that will never have a problem with transistors suddenly "hard failing" with no warning, we got a pre smog control 1959 Ford Pick up truck that runs like a charm, and I don't need a computer to tell me which one of the fifty or sixty electronic parts just failed on a newfangled vehicle. All I need to do, is pop the cap on the single wire distributor, check the point gap and spark color, of the points as they open, look down the throat of the Carb, and see if I'm getting fuel, and fix the problem. That type of a system "soft fails" so you get WEEKS of warning. Replace the five dollar set of points every 3,000 miles, and there will be NO problems.
The problem is that it cost us three thousand dollars cash to go back in time to get a more reliable vehicle, so no, we will not be able to go to Seattle this year. Over the winter, I will be rebuilding a 1965 Volkswagon Beetle, the EPITOME of trouble free reliability. THAT is the vehicle that we will take to NEXT year's meetup, and we will not have a single problem. ( I have years of experience with non smogged, air cooled VW's, as I used to work for VW dealers after I got out of the Army). Niri Te |
