Default How To Make Your Own Avatar Posters.

I've mentioned this before, but I was doing some more tonight and thought I'd do a quick guide.

1. Get posterazor. It needs Java (if you don't know, don't worry, you almost certainly have it).
Select the image you want to make into a poster in posterazor. The higher resolution the better. Select the size (number of pages), then save the PDF generated.

2. Print it out.

3. The poster is easier to assemble if you cut some of the borders so it all fits together properly. See the two examples of ones I made (click the thumbnails for bigger versions)

4. Put the poster together. Each page has a small overlap which you need to align with the others.

5. Enjoy

(The third one is the first one I made)

That looks pretty awesome Tsmukan
You could always just blow up the image at a photocopy place
and transfer it onto magazine type paper..
Good job though!

I remember this, the only thing I have against it is that you can see the separation of the paper still even if you did it correctly. Call me picky, but when I see a poster, I want it all in one piece. If there was a way to have a poster all in one piece, of an image of your choosing, that would be something worth my while. Anyone know? Maybe this does work, I have no idea :\.

That's one way to kill your printer's ink, though I'm sure having Neytiri displayed on your wall makes up for it.

Great tips, HNM.

Yes, you can still see the page edges, but it's not actually as bad as it looks in the photos.

If you want to make one all on one page, you could always find somewhere with a bigger printer, but it would probably cost quite a lot.

yes it is very expensive. we have a few larger printers at the academy. quality is amazing. costs are too ghe ghe.. but what might also work is to cut out precisley and glue on a larger board of something? than put a matte finish over it so the small edges are filled and it will appear a whole surface. but than i think the costs of the finish and the large board with the separate prints will cost you same as a huge print

Yeah Apollo, if you're looking for large size prints, you'll have to get it done in a professional environment. We too have A0 size printing facilities at our college, but costs are insanely high. Just 1 A0 sized print is £14. However, if you have an A4 printer at home and you want to print really wide, you can buy A4 rolls of paper instead of precut sheets.

For example, say I wanted to print this image...

You could get the image, make the height the same height as the A4 piece of paper but keep the width because the sheet's width is pretty much unlimited, for obvious reasons. (something like 20m).

Using this technique, you could cut the number of divisions in the image down to around 3 (depending on the height) but as I said, if you want a full-size, you'll have to pay to get it printed.

Hope this helped.

Thanks, I'll give it a try!

About the edges thing, the best thing to solve that is using firstly a glue stick to join the sheets and then use some scotch tape on the back.
