It just seemed a tad odd to me to have filthy inbred goblins at shakespeare level lol. Maybe it's just me

Man, I need other people to go and watch it, I'm dying to talk about the epicness!

Probably going to end up downloading it, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't see a movie in a theater all year.

I saw the Hobbit last week and it was... pretty good. Definitely entertaining. As one would expect from a three-hour movie that only covers the first third of a relatively short book, the pace was a tad glacial at times, but that didn't bother me. What did bother me was that Jackson has conjured a few of his own plot threads from out of thin air, presumably to lend cohesion to what is honestly a rather fragmented story in the beginning. Still, I would rather have had a single, well-paced, three-hour movie that covered the whole book and demanded no made-up plot threads to placate the Tolkien-muggles, but... oh well. I am still looking forward to the next two movies!

I did not see the movie in 48fps, so I will definitely be doing that before it ends its run.

I just saw it.

I was pretty impressed with how it has been done, even with the small plot changes.

I really have to say that Radagast was brilliantly portrayed in the film..
Like a wise nature loving wizard gone slightly mad.
Can't wait to see him later on in the trilogy.

I noticed that too, particularly in the forest fire scene and also with the trolls.. Reminds me of how Jackson replaced Glorfindel with Arwen in LOTR.

However at least Jackson tries to fit as much in as possible, otherwise there would be corner cutting and the whole book could be ruined by one single movie..

I still would recommend that people go and see The Hobbit if they are the slightest bit interested by it. It's a lot lighter that the LOTR trilogy and has more humour involved to help the movie along.

Lol, he was certainly unique

I like the fact that he lives as a hermit and spends all his time in the woods, really awesome. I'll bet he could kick bottom with all those trusty animal allies

A little thing I thought was cool was how whenever the dwarves charged into the fray, the epic theme music started playing. I got shivers everytime that happened. Made you want to grab an axe and jump into the film XD

I've seen "The Hobbit" 3 times now -- twice in the HFR 3D and once in regular 24fps 3D...and overall I actually prefer the HFR 3D. Yes, the HFR technology can be improved upon (probably by Peter Jackson/WETA and James Cameron), and it does take a bit of getting used to, but by the 2nd time of seeing the film in the HFR 3D, I was already more used to it.

I would recommend my fellow Avatar fans to see "The Hobbit" (it's a darn good movie regardless of the format it's shown in!) in the HFR 3D if possible...and even to see it twice in that format if possible. That way, you can start getting used to it in preparation for the Avatar sequel films, which just might be filmed in the HFR 3D (JC might go higher than the 48fps of "The Hobbit"). I think it would be VERY interesting to see what the Na'vi would look like in the HFR 3D (though I can't even imagine what a *higher* frame rate than 48fps would look like).

Was quite a nice Movie, funny and some nice action and wonderful landscape shots

But still, i guess that that new 3 movies will not beat the original lord of the ring trilogy.

I saw the HFR 3D version right after Christmas. Very nice, but I felt like I was watching TV for 3 hours because of the high frame rate.

I went to see the movie when it came out. I enjoyed it. For the most part, I think Peter Jackson did an okay job. I like Radagast and his bunny sled and stuff. But I think making the book into three movie isn't all that good.

And I highly recommend seeing this movie in HFR (48fps) 3D...IMO it's the best way to watch it.

He is so cool!!!
I watched it in plain 2D but I was impressed with the scene with Smaug awakening and how all the gold trickles around his body.
Shame how Legolas and Tauriel (Not a canon character btw) steal some of the limelight but oh well..
Smaug's exit from the mountain definitely sets the scene for the finale next year.

DOS was a decent film and fun to watch, though some things were iffy to me. Action sequences were a bit over-the-top, and almost seems arcade-like, especially Legolas' sequences. Compare this with the battle in FOTR.

Kinda wish there was more on Beorn. Tauriel was somewhat questionable though. The character has potential, but some of it was just poorly executed. She became amicable with Kili way too abruptly, and that healing scene was just cheesy. Hope she'll be better in TABA.

Smaug looked fantastic (thanks Weta) and well voiced, though he became an idiot when chasing the dwarves. Maybe that's another problem with the film. The fact that there were absolutely no dwarf casualties except for Kili's leg wound really stretched my suspension of disbelief. Oh well, at least we know what will happen to some of these characters in the next film if you read the book.
