If it is it's probably temporary. As times change different political views develop, with varying levels of severity. There will always be moderatism and extremism, only the subject changes. It's the way it's always been, and forever will be. Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis - be it for the better or worse.

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling." - Inception "Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden |

It seems that common sense finally won. The court has now ruled that the images hosted in the Manga translators computer are not child pornography.

A victory for free speech and common sense. Now we just need to hope other countries follow this precedent

On a related note, in the UK under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, non-photographic pornagraphic images that give the "predominant impression" is of a person under the age of 18 are illegal. This means that manga like this case is illegal in the UK.
This is espectially complex since the age of consent in the UK is 16. |
