IX March arrives to La Paz
Today, the Tipnis marchers arrived to La Paz, again, to demand the enforcement of the short law they obtained last year after a brutal police intervention to march in an effort to stop them of arriving to La Paz. And as it happened last year, Police used tear gas against the marchers when they tried to get to the Parliament located in Plaza Murillo. Interestingly, just a few hours before the march's arrival, the government hurriedly ended a week-long mutiny in the Police forces, the reason for the mutiny was a better pay for lower ranked officers, precisely those who (now are deemed as an operative branch of political prosecution) impeded the protesters of entering a public place and that violently dissolved last year's march.
Also, a counter-march organized by pro-government supporters terrorized citizens, when the denominated Ponchos Rojos (Red Ponchos, an extremely violent group of people) used whips against citizens, obviously, the Police turned a blind eye to these actions.
