This has been in the news quite a bit in the past few months and now that The Badger Trust has lost it's appeal, looks set to go ahead. The whole idea of the cull is to prevent the spread of bovine tuberculosis which forces farmers to needlesly slaughter cattle every year and unfortunately these charming beasts are being used as scapegoats.
The thing is there is little scientific and public support for such a cull. Not only that but the government wants to force landowners to let private contractors in to hunt the badgers. There are also fears that the culls could drive badgers out of their homes and into new territory which would only help in spreading the disease :/ Anyway, here's the article Badger cull to go ahead as campaigners lose High Court bid - Telegraph Any brits on the forum, I implore you to do whatever it takes to protect these awesome little chaps, as I shall be doing
