Thx all!
well ive been busy with alot of things lately.
Made some new plants, more animating and one of the other things is updating the backgrounds.
Im still pretty far from where i want to be with this but atleast its getting a bit denser.
Made a few test renders today, good thing is it still renders fast

For the first part the idea is to start well before sunset and slowly go towards night time with dense jungle and lots of bioluminescence. Hope i can make that happen the way as its in my head.
I already have half a notebook filled with descriptions for each shot, al the camera's from start frame to end, what the camera's view is, lightning, etc. And then all that edited 10 times over

Really underestimated this part and with my close to zero experience on this i hope i can pull it off in a decent way..

So frustrating to do certain work and then later find out its not going to be in it because it doesnt fit, have to keep that too a minimum

Haha thx, nice gif

Well here's quick test render of one of the larger and more detailed trees im making. This tree will be used in the animation im working on. Most trees will be more generic and so alot quicker to build.
Its based on a mix of the Acacia tree and one seen in the Avatar movie on Pandora plains when they seek other clans.
Still needs some work but im happy where its going
Neytiri and Jake added to give it some scale (and because its fun )

Tree looks good.

Acacia was the first thing I thought of; that's a good thing, coming from me.

I'm a biology fanatic, so I notice when things look "off" when it comes to sci fi organisms.

Thanks all!
Glad you like the tree and i'm really happy you feel like there's some realism in the design.
Thought it would be boring but it was actually pretty fun to make, still have to add detail but thats for later.
Anyway there is a bit of animation around the tree and i'd like to hear what you think.
I got carried away starting in the tree and creating a fun way for Neytiri to get down.

Needs plenty of work, but it gives an idea and i need to take a break, been looking at it too long Start fixing it up tomorrow.
Was really good fun sofar but what you think, bit too much perhaps?

Oh the odd colors is just because its very low quality (not rendered but just a quick playblast).

I think the animations work pretty well. I was thinking that if you only have Neytiri swing on the branch once instead of twice and use that momentum to switch direction and grab onto the tree it might look a bit more fluid and could suit neytiri more. (Since she is so athletic.)
Great job though.

I agree - great job! All of your work on this is fantastic.

I thought much the same thing that Pa'li Makto did, though - I think it would suit Neytiri more if she were only to swing once before the jump to the tree. Not only would it be more fluid, but also more efficient in terms of energy expended to achieve the same result, which is something that I think would suit all Na'vi when moving around in trees, since they spend so much time doing it.

I absolutely agree with Pa'li Makto and draco_james, also in the point, that it looks absolutely fantastic nonetheless. Keep up the good work, want to see moaaarr

Small break from animating, time for building another tree.
This one plays an important role in my little animation so going to spend some time on this.
While very young, this tree will be pretty big already

after quick doodle on paper this is the first 3D "sketch"
