Well the good news is she didn't say no. The bad news is she can't tell me for sure until much nearer the time when the rotas are being sorted out. For now I will have to be a 'maybe'

I'm intrigued to hear more about what we would be doing whilst there though? XD

I don't know... that was one reason I suggested watching Avatar , but it might prove impractical, looks like.

I don't know, probably going to think more about that and make a list of ideas or something. Avatar could still work out if there's a TV in the hotel, but as for other things, I certainly welcome suggestions cause, secretly, I'm a terrible event planner. Anybody like rock climbing?

I must say that I am at least thinking of using that chance. I sadly did not make it to Seattle because it was too far away and I am not so sure about Washington which has as a city little appeal to me, but the UK would at least be relatively easy to get to. But I cannot be sure - I will probably have to give lectures this summer at the university and the timeframe for vacations is a bit restricted. Hmm - also I am a little bit worried about not to get into a real life "debate war" with some of the people - how can that be avoided?

The traditional way - pistols at dawn!

(The trick is, of course, acquiring the pistol... )

Avoid bringing up contentious subjects. I certainly can; it wasn't that hard in Seattle despite a few different groups of people not getting on perfectly *cough*Clarke*cough*

I only deliberately wound you up once. (AFAICR. 4 days is a long time.)

I can't actually remember that happening

Wow, the minimeet thread is alive! Was starting to think this was going to turn into a trip to Edinburgh after all. Now that it's been a couple months, I don't feel entirely silly discussing dates. Unless anyone has a problem, the dates can be in the first weekend of April, say 4th - 8th. If anyone has any problem with this at all, I can make another poll. As far as debate wars Aurora, I guess that depends on subject matter, but I think everyone is capable of being civil. In big meetups, I'd say it's easier since you have your own group of like minded buddies to hang out around, but hopefully Stag is coming and won't be scared off by our lack of planning and activity agenda

Huh? Hey, just as a idea...how about Kew Gardens as a place to visit?

That's cool, I'm up for that. Any suggestions given in this thread, I'll make into a list, then post it here in March and we can discuss what we want to do.

Just one thought that passed through my head: Do they do group city passes and travel cards to make it as easy and cheap to visit and travel places?

AFAIK travel cards really depend on what you end up doing and require some planning, so I'd just advise a regular oyster card which won't expire. I remember when HNM and I were at the aquarium (which is not all that great), there was an option to buy some kind of pass to the aquarium plus other things, maybe the eye, can't remember now. Those are the only two types of things like that I can think of.

Aye, I guess the thing is to find out what people would like to do, where people would like to visit and then an event schedule could be drawn up...or something. That will point to a location to stay and what travel arrangements might need making.

Well right now, we have Kew Gardens, and any other activities we've thought of are either in central London or don't really depend on location. I'm in Colindale, which is zone 4 in north London. I guess as far as costs go, it would be best not to stay in central London and also to stay somewhere near a tube station. I don't know how areas of outer London compare in hotel cost at all, but you guys can compare on hotels and maybe come to an agreement if most people want to stay in the same place.
