Not exactly bad news or anything, I guess, but as someone who was pretty excited when JC said he'd want to work on Avatar indefinitely, maybe a tiny part of me is sad that something else has his focus.

If he is going to keep funding Environmental causes, he will need to keep up a positive cash flow after Avatar runs out.

I don't think cash flow will ever be an issue for as long as he keeps making films.

He's probably got enough from Avatar to make many, many films.
Looks like that Battle Angel film is still shelved then, I guess.
