Of course it's not magical, just that in our history there are some periods when people had to do that because of... something. The indigenous people will start over but not fully, because they'll take traditions and habits with them, also they would adapt easily to new environments (natural). Can we adapt ? I doubt.

It's an option. You can choose to believe whatever you want about today's society and live the way you want. I choose to believe that electricity and cars can be non-pollutive using sun and wind energies, but of course, not until oil and gas will cost more than gold, it will be a very rare resource.
There are people who gave up this live and moved to the wild, growing their own food haunting for meat, not supporting globalization and industrialization. I don't think it's wrong what they're doing.
