Another of the many reasons why I love Avatar is the world of Pandora, basically and simply. I’m gonna explain some reasons why I am fascinated and passionate about this wonderful planet.
The world of Pandora is a totally perfect, beautiful, peaceful and pure world, as well as full of wonders and natural resources, and extraordinary and pretty cool creatures, animals and plants, and despite being dangerous in part, a perfect world to live where and where everything (or almost everything) is possible. On Pandora there’s all good, positive and perfect of the universe, life and existence, and nothing of the bad and imperfect. And best of all those good things is that those things are tangible. In Pandora, all living things are good, pure and respectful of each other, and are connected spiritually, emotionally and in many other ways; there is the wonderful connection that is established between the Na'vi and the animals and plants through Na'vi queues, animals antennas, plant leaves and roots, etc.; communication between Na'vi, animals and plants is tangible; divinity is tangible and miracles exist, because Eywa, the goddess who created Pandora and governs it, helps and accompanies tangibly and she always (or almost always) answers prayers, and always intercedes for the Na'vi and all living things; the Na'vi are a pure race, educated, worthy of admiration and respect, generous, respectful, etc. who love, respect and care for their world and its living things and is proud to exist and live and their world, and their culture is very cool, nice and interesting, etc.; in Pandora, animals and plants and all living things are loved, respected and cared of; although the Na'vi hunt for food, they venerate and respect their prey and regret and thank the hunting and all of that; even if there are dangerous animals that try to kill and to eat the Na'vi, they still respect them and are even willing to die with honor trying to join that class of animals and tame them; Pandora's environment (forests, floating rocks, etc.) is a visual beauty and wonder, both day and night by the bioluminescence; the ambience of Pandora is full of love, purity, perfection, connection, etc.; and many more good and perfect things Then, what does not exist in Pandora are evil, negativity, hatred, bad people, wars, injustice, poverty, homelessness, pollution (environmental, acoustic, etc..), negative terms, bad actions, fights between people , etc. And that's very, very good. All of this and more is what I think of Pandora, of all living things that inhabit it and everything which is in it. Having said all of that, it is understandable the amount of messages in the film, and it is also understandable that some people say that Pandora is like Heaven or like the Garden of Eden or any wonderful and utopian place. For me, Pandora is the best planet in the entire universe and the best all life and existence can make. Besides that is another of the many reasons why I love Avatar, I must say that is the kind of world that is in my dreams and where I want to live; like some fans, I want to live in Pandora, and I have dreams, thoughts, depression and sadness for wanting to live there, do what it can do there and feel what it's like there. For everything nice about it, it's equally limiting, IMO, and while I'd love to visit, I would actually not choose to live there over Earth (unless of course the planet is falling apart or something).

If I'm cautious and if I respect the forest, I can survive and then live the life on Pandora which I want.

Life on Earth sometimes makes me sick. There are many reasons why I prefer live on Pandora than here, for example, environmental problems. I had bad dreams of Earth being so polluted and ruined like in the film. But certainly, it's not going to fall thanks to the favorable actions for the environment that James Cameron has did, inspired by Avatar. And if things on Earth change for good, I will not be worried anymore for living on Earth, and simply dreaming of life on Pandora.

Go into the Rain forest with just a stick and see how well you do, then we'll talk Pandora.

Pandora is not a utopia.
It's just a natural satellite of Polyphemus that managed to develop life. There are probably lots of nasty toothy things running around (and swimming around) that we haven't seen that would love to make a snack of another of the RDA's science experiments. It's pretty, but it's also a thriving ecosystem with some pretty advanced megafauna and predators. If it were a utopia, you wouldn't have to worry about these things. The only reason humans don't have any huge predators chasing them around is because all of the things that could have served that role are extinct. The only animals around who could kill us would do it out of curiosity (i.e. being curious about a possible new food item), defense, or starvation. There aren't many things who choose our species as a typical prey item.

The biggest reason that it has been millennia since humans were on anythings dining list. Is because of our greatest natural advantage. That advantage is our ability to use our intellect to make and use "tools". Our toolmaking mastery enables us to take on a Lion, which is faster, larger, stronger, and far more deadly then we are IF we don't "use tools ". The greatest equalizing tool in such a matchup is a rifle in 375H&H. Or 416 Rigby caliber.
If we use the tools that we know how to build, we are instantly catapulted from the insignificant, vulnerable. Weaklings that we are in the wild, to the very top of the food chain. |

Avatar at its Heart is a powerful Mirror story with most aspects of the story "Bound" to places in our deap core "memorys" and often Bound to our core inner dreams and in some people our conflicts with our sense of place and inner accountability inside that reflects apon our own "Dream" , in fact Avatar has very strong connections to this part of our heartfelt inner understanding valued deeply by native peoples an astonshing amount of cultural spiritual research went into how the film points to this part of us that is so repressed in our people due to our religious and cultural world view, After Avatar many people connected very strongly with the "Na'vi and Pandora" Yet few people are realy willing to dig deep enougth and truly ask "Why is this so ?" Why is Pandora seen as such a paradise ? Why do people reflect on the Na'Vi Life way presented in the film and find it so attractive ? Why do I have such deep strong feelings and emotions why do we share this powerful Bond Connection pulled too the surface after seeing this film ? What is the "true source" of these feelings and emotions ?,, Why will we listen to the voices of Na'vi ?, but not the voices of our own native peoples ? I beleve Cameron was trying to Build a Bridge of understanding as well as create an entertaining film , He himself was very suprised at the massive global responce to his film and him and his cast and crew have all been collectivly touched by the power of the collective core spirit of this film.

"With the hippo walking into the bushes, it looks like just a matter of time until the marsh lions efforts pay off. But suddenly everything changes. Incredible turn of events, the lions ran off, afraid almost certainly because they spotted human beings on foot down stream. The human beings didn't know they were causing a problem, ah, but the result is the hippo may well survive. Whether it's a happy end to the story I'm not sure, it is of course potentially for the hippo, but the lions, they've expelled a huge amount of energy to try and secure a meal." - Simon King, Big Cat Diary, Season 3, Episode 3. |

Pandora is perfect because it is in balance. All creatures, from Atokirina to Thanators, live within the natural equilibrium. Even when a Na'vi dies, their dead bodies go to earth, & become food for plants, those for animals - & in the end for the future generations of Na'vi; the energy is returned, & the cycle completed. They respect the balance of life that Eywa maintains, and are part of it.
The Na'vi make tools, too, to compensate the lack of claws & fangs - but I imagine their tools can be naturally recycled, & I won't be surprised if a Na'vi says thanks to its knife for a long service before burrying it when it is, finally, broken. Here on this poor planet we got carried away with making tools... & there are different sorts of predators here: accidents, gangsters, terrorists, corrupt governments etc. I prefer Pandora jungle to it - but if, imagine for a second, I had a chance to go there, I would prefer to get first into a friendly clan to learn their ways! But going back to the OP, my inner feeling (when I see Pandora in Avatar or meditation) is exactly this: perfect. Hey, I met - by mysterious ways of Eywa - a native Amazonian woman, who got a big piece of land in the jungle, so it is private, no one can touch it, & she wants to set up a study centre/museum for local cultures & botanics ('(Grace) literally wrote a book on Pandora plants - she likes them more than people!") When her webpage is ready, I'll post it. Her grandma still lives in a tribe, she is a full native. I would love to meet her ![]() Quote:

I Honestly Beleave Avatar Points to and gives Value to a very deep part of our inner primal core understanding but wording it this way may not resonate with many people, After seeing the film I felt a very deep call from inside I wanted to live on Pandora and Walk with the Na'Vi people. There "life way" simply resonated deep inside, What many people may not realise is that we "see" Avatar at many levels, I have said this before, its a very unique film in this aspect because of its imersive dream like connections that point to many shared comon dreams our people have deep inside. Our true core self "sees" this film as well in quite a profound way , many of us in the world today live in conflict with our true "Dream" inside this profoundly effects our sense of place, Avatar gives value to this repressd inner core understanding , Gives it a strong Voice for this part of us "knows the truth" I suspect that Cameron himself in creating Avatar used images from his own dreams or "posably" altered Consciousness experences, or he shared the dreams of others. Even though our intellect may not see the film as that diffrent our inner core self reflects on our deep core memorys and feelings held inside on the issues our people face in the world today ,this "Connection" to this core part of us in our culture "Is at very real risk of being torn out by the roots"
as our people evolve to changes in our world and the can't face the feelings and emotions coming from this core part of us "Our primal self sees the cause of our conflict and sadness" and "Breaks The Connection to this Critical bond" this truly Blinds our people to there ability to see and feel from our Hearts the roots of our core human issues,,Blind people are easy to mislead as they lack the ability to "see" and Question our core human issues with our own eyes and our Heartfelt feelings. there is a very intresresting new understanding relating to children as young as 2 months old , it has been found that even at this age they truly posess "Alturistic" primal understanding this is a "Science term" Altruistic | Define Altruistic at Dictionary.com if this is true we all posess "The Bond to our people at birth" But what is the first thing we teach young children in our culture is to "Fear strangers" this instantly puts a child into conflict with there core understanding and drives a sense of seperation and feeling of wrongness inside.I must include a honest reality check in saying there is a real risk so its not an illogical thing to do, I think Pandora And The Na'Vi people are an outstanding example of the true power of human creativity and a real tribute to all who worked so hard on the film, Apache_Blanca and others I would like to ask a deep question "Does the film feel Familer" is there intrest in looking at the core mytholigy behind Pandora and the Na'Vi, I would like to share What I think is a Connection if one rembers in the film Neytiri speaks to Jake about a Great Leader that brought the people together "In a time of great sorrow" the example in the film was "Turok Makto" I beleve Turok Makto was posably a great peacemaker who united the clans after they fought each other if so this story "Mirrors" the "Very real" lore of the "Haudenosaunee" who symbol on there flag is "The great tree of peace" In this speach by Onondaga faithkeeper Oren Lyons, in New York City he tells this story, One unique fact We all admire the Na'Vi for there connection to the Creatures on Pandora and we all think this "Bond" could not be posable any other place if one looks at his examples this can help "some" people "Bridge" the roots of understanding one wonders why The Na'Vi And Pandora feel so "familer" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP7yAqRMOsY its very important to note that Cameron took "direct" examples from the mytholigy and conflict issues facing many of earths native peoples , this is so no mater what culture one comes from around the world Avatar will have a familer connection and reflection on very real issues seen right in our own backyard. a quickie cos I am already going: did you mean "does the film feel familiar?" or 'does it feel like family?" Both! in my case. It feels like Home!
![]() I'd say you're right about the connection to the core understanding that everything is connected & related, maybe these are our ancestral memories, that our native people - like Kogi or Machiguenga, & many others haven't lost; these 'chords' were always there, in the DNA maybe, who knows, & Avatar made them sound. But I am going for now. Good night/day everybody.
