Default Update on Avatar 2 & 3 from JC

The good news, he's pumped about the sequels and he's living on Pandora right now (lucky SOB ).

The bad news, no update on when the shooting will begin or when the scripts will be finished.

Some interesting tidbits, tho...

James Cameron updates on the status of Avatar 2 and 3; "I'm deep into it and I'm living in Pandora right now"

* * *

Edit: Here's the link to the original interview.

Nobody's going to comment on this?

Some news is better than no news...

All I can really say is that by now I've learned to be very patient with James Cameron.

I'm just happy to hear some news

Good to see JC taking it so seriously... 2015 would be nice but really, I want it to take as long as it needs to be perfect.

Well, as long as he and GRRM don't turn it into a contest of who can string along their fanbases the longest, that's fine by me.

Don't worry, no one can out string The Mountain that Writes....or doesn't as the case maybe.

Also for the whole "living on Pandora" bit, yeah that is seriously a state of mind I can understand. Now excuse me I need to go write another fifty post-it notes for ideas I have writing wise, but first TEA!

Well, the difference between 1997 and 2009 is quite a long one.

Yeah, I'm with the some news is better than no news. I'd really like to get excited about it but get excited only to wait another 3 years won't do me any good.

Good news!

I still get annoyed by the same comments that follow every article relating to Avatar. They are always mentioning Pocahontas, dances with wolves, etc, blah blah, movie sucks, blah blah. EVERY single article.

As said in one of my other favorite movies, "Yeah, well...that's just like, uh...your opinion, man."

Do opinions need to be original?

The thing I always get a laugh at from those comments is....

Are Original Movies Better Than Sequels and Remakes? - Metacritic

From 2006 to 2010, 57% of movies were remakes, reboots, sequels or adaptations of video games/comic books/novels/"based on a true story".

Guess which movie about blue people on an alien planet isn't among them?

Remakes often have a bonus from people who know about them.

Sequels, it could go either way, with "good sequel" vs "bad sequel".

Avatar is infinitely more original that the formulaic hipster film festival special (black and white, incomprehensible plot or no real plot up to and including just being a sequence of random video clips, some kind of political correctness thrown in, non-English-language, etc).
