Yep, this thread feels empty without pictures of flamboyant feet everywhere.

Oh my! I have been absent, indeed... Blame social networks, since I have been quite busy elsewhere... posting on "The Evil F" (remember the "Arthur" movies? They called the villain "The Evil M" there), tweeting and blogging about different things.
I'm sorry for keeping you worried. I've been fine and am now very happy to see spring having arrived proper. And since I've read that people have missed the "flamboyant feet", here you are: ![]() And the flamboyant full figure, too: ![]() ![]() My most recent barefoot enterprise was taking part in a World Record attempt - which worked, too: I was part of 848 people, setting the new Guinness World Record in a group tree hug. That event was part of a WWF (World Wildlife Fund for Nature) awareness campaign to replant alluvial forests along river banks in particular and raising awareness about Mama Nature in general. Of course, I went barefoot to that event in the Gruga Park, Essen. I even made it to a local press web site called "Lokalkompass"... Weltrekord geglückt - Essen-Süd - lokalkompass.de The text (translated to English) says: "I like hugging trees", nature lover Andreas says. Like many others, he answered the call by Pro 7 and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) to hug trees at the Grugapark today. With "Hug a Tree" . the event title - the WWF wants to raise awareness for the importance of forests. Andreas is already very aware of it: "I often go to the forest to reduce stress and I love being in nature to recharge with energy". He came barefoot to the world record event. And here's my feet, feeling the Earth at the base of "my" tree: ![]() It surely was a quite powerful event, with more than 800 people hugging trees simultaneously... Lots of warm feelings were sent into Mama Earth on that day. I was the only really grounded person... no one else went barefoot. They don't know what they missed. Wiggling bare, hippie toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~

wow, that's awesome, congratulations with the Tree Hugging record!
I hug the trees in my forest with the waterfall - "the guardians" right at the entrance/exit point: two pine trees, they look like twins - and they probably are! Txim, you're so picturesque, I am not surprised they took your photo! the article wouldn't be the same without it... But I am also glad that there were Many tree-huggers! barefoot or not.

I have been living and working in Peru, Ireland, the Sahara and in Scotland and am now back in my hometown Kiel in Germany. Often I have been involved in nature reserve and environmental protection projects and have been living in cultures where walking barefoot was and is a common habit and where the respect to the Earth is part of the culture..
I still do that frequently now back in N. Germany, especially when I am out in nature (shore, forest, swamp, fields, meadows). I only have my shoes on when there is ice and snow on the ground. It makes me feel even closer to nature, to Nother Earth or Gaia. And it is healthier for our feet and back and our skin to walk barefoot.

Oh, I'm blushing...
Thanks for the compliment! ![]() Even greater is the current summer weather in my part of Germany. I'm fortunate not to live in one of the flooded disaster areas, and we're currently having sunny and warm weather (over 25°C/78F - true summer temperatures!) Best conditions for fighting the power! I'm doing that by not obeying the mainstream expected footwear rules, and Mother Nature does it too, by making things grow, where they don't "belong"... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...4&l=5868349e64 (Picture taken on my way to work) Wiggling bare toes, happy about feeling sun-warmed pavement, soil and grass underfoot, ~*Txim Asawl*~

You DON'T want to be barefooting it in the Desert southwest out in the countryside. Out HERE, if it does not STICK you, STING you, or BITE you, it is a ROCK, and it will stub your toe.

Hi.
I'm barefooter everywhere excluding work (including way from/to work), cold environment, very hot asphalt (at this moment anything between 15*C and 45*C is fine for me) and some official situations. For example last holidays I wear shoes about 4 times during 2 weeks, mostly in night to avoid broken glass. I started barefooting at summer 2013 by wearing bad shoes. But as time passed things gets better and better. My log can be found here: https://forum.learnnavi.org/general-...952/#msg609952 (including future posts). At this moment I can hike barefoot about 20km over asphalt/concrete sidewalks without any problems (personal record: 10km over artificial surfaces and 30km by forest paths), run over short distances (up to 1km, limited by condition) and withstand few seconds below zero, with or without on snow (on balcony). I'm not sure why I started thinking about barefooting. Perhaps transition may be inspired by Avatar but I'm still not sure about that.
