Ateyo, oeyä eylan Patxi (you know her, indirectly - remember the little angel koakte her grandma? ) had such thick hair that only One braid out of two was as thick as my wrist! and if she made just one it was about as thick as a ship rope! Eventually she cut her hair for the same reason as you did, she was getting headache, but I still say: "Pity!" it was such a beautiful authentic-looking braid... or two braids - if we are talking Na'vi islanders
Well, as I said, I thank Eywa for my "talented" hair (However, it's not black but dark blonde.. But my Na'vi-motto is: stay natural! The colour is not a problem for me, Na'vis would understand I'm different.)

Ateyo, on one side I side with your muntxate - I *personally* wouldn't want a mohawk on your head! but for the sake of justice, I agree with Nrra: your hair is yours. Maybe you can do it, at least once, at least as an experiment? hair has the advantage of growing again! although not very fast but it does.

Ma Nrra, i guess there is a misunderstanding here: I assumed that you wanted a Na'vi hairstyle for a cosplay - which is a different story altogether. For instance, one must be painted blue - it is not exactly natural but a *naturally blue* human being is either very cold or dead, & it's not something I would recommend!

However, if it's Only the hairstyle that we're talking about - then by all means, again, your hair is yours & you style it the way you please! Maybe you want to keep all long, for the 'tswin' , and also have some shorter thinner braids, on the front / sides. And add some feathers and/ or beads. Or whatever.

Unhappy

I cannot upload pics. They are less than 2,500 by 2,500 Pixels and they're between 140 and 217 KB & they all are jpg-pics. I've read FAQ but nothing helps.
At least, I tried everything. It still says "Failed to write file. Check disc quotas and permissions for the path: blahblahblah" every single time. I don't understand what's that..

I should have known this would happen. Computer is an enemy, it belongs to skypeople. I'm trying to pretend that I don't care but it still makes me sad, like computer does every time.. Now, you can understand why I don't like it. And why I'd print NiaN (& the others) instead of reading it on screen.

& I just don't know what to do or what did I do wrong. I could upload pix into my first album and I did everything the same way today.

So I'm sorry. I did everything I could.

Nrra, don't scold your computer, it's your 'bond' with the forum!
We wouldn't be on this forum if computers didn't exist, we wouldn't go to the Meetup if planes didn't exist, & even Avatar wouldn't be made if it were not for the technology... The key is use (of the technology) - but not abuse.

about the photos... ask the admins? I am sure they can help. Can you make bigger pictures? or something... I am not a super hi-tech person, I'd say I am more Mo'at than Dr. Grace there are always person(s) who might know more in this or that area, why not to ask an expert.

Uploads are fixed, but thumbnails on the main page are still broken - working on this now.

I still don't like computer very much but I know there are some things I can't do without them, so it's a friend too. (A frienemy )

I guess you meant with your own hair and not a wig, there's definitely a load of stuff you could do with your own hair even if it's not as long as na'vi length hair, if you just wanted something similar or in the right style. I've used those little silicone hairbands of various sizes, a big one for the back braid and then the little ones for other little braids. It's pretty easy to go for the style regardless of what your hair is actually like. I once saw a weave that looked just like Neytiri's hair, unfortunately I was driving and couldn't get a picture or anything. Anyway, I don't know what color your hair is or anything but if it's already black, you could consider just an extension for the braid, and then you could cosplay without a wig. That's what I'll be going for next time.

Thank you.
Well, my hair is dark blonde but I also have some brown parts. (100% natural. The browns are thicker, I've realised it just some weeks ago and I found it extremely funny.)
I don't want to cosplay. (I'm not slim enough but I'm workin' on it ) And I like my natural colours (skin/hair).
I already have the back braid for more than a year. As a braid it lasts to my lungs or the lowest point of my sternum [but on my back, of course]. But if I don't make a braid of it, it lasts to my bottom. But people never see it as a "not-braid".
For little braids I don't need hairbands. My hair is long enough to keep the braids.I have some from October-November-December (2013). I have one in bad condition, I think it's more than a year old.. It has a very small part that is still a braid.
For my back braid I used little silver hairbands but there's no more of them. Then I used three or fous silicone ones (for 1-2 months) but they all torn. Now I use thin hemp ropes (macrame).
In ten years I think I'll have a real (long and thick) back braid.
