About the sequels: imho JC hardly made any sequel worse than the original movie. Terminator / Terminator 2, all Aliens... I can't recall any other series but - each one of the above is a good movie on its own, even if there were no 'base' movie. So I'll cross my 4 fingers & tie my kxetse in 3 knots & trust JC on Avatar 2 & 3, too.

In this article, Sigourney Weaver kind of compares her character in Avatar to Ripley, and seems to think she won't just be used in flashbacks, but be in A2 as a clone or brought back to life in some other way

Well, all the kit they'd need to ressurect her is plausibly availiable.

Huh, I thought there was a general feeling of uneasiness about this, especially from Clarke It did kind of annoy me how she said that anything is possible in a scifi movie, though I could've been taking it too literally.

Well, it's true, but when everything is possible, nothing is interesting, so to write a good story, you've got to invent rules and stick to them.

Which is I guess the reason it bothered me a little. What kind of maintenance does an inactive avatar need, and would Grace's have gotten it after everything that happened? I'm fine with whatever happens as long as I understand how.

Interesting. I would really like to know with some plausibility then what happens that makes this flesh-and-bone resurrection possible. She would need a body - preferrably the Avatar body she had before, but I would really think that the people buried it once it was clear that her soul is with Eywa. And something would have to be different in terms of the spiritual or neural world which suddenly allows even to pull someone back from the realms of Eywa, which certainly has to be even more powerful than transferring a sould to another body. Where would that power come from?

BTW - was there a discussion somewhere yet as to why the NA'Vi do have such a ritual at all? After all Grace probably is the first time there would be the need for such a ritual to be performed.
