Lesson 4 - Lenition, Or "Softening Words".

I posted this on your blog, but I figured I will post it here as well ,
I think I got the basic premise, but I am having trouble "carrying" the past stuff over, I.e. ayngal fpe' oer
As I understand "you send to me" as "ngal fpe' oeru" but I can't remember why the "ay" is on the "you" word, or why the "ru" is only "r"

Here is my try, sunu oeru yafkeykaherwì

Also I can't find the "sound" for "'" and "é"

And last but not least Irayo for all of your help

I do want to thank you for all of your support I have started back to work so my progress may be slower now. But I will keep trying.

ay+ is plural

or why the "ru" is only "r"

It's just a short form of -ru is all

Here is my try, sunu oeru yafkeykaherwì

"I like snow weather" ? I think "Sunu oeru herwì" should suffice. Totally awesome try though

Also I can't find the "sound" for "'"

It's the first thing in the consonants section. beacuse ' is a consonant in Na'vi(!)

and "é"

only "exists" in ONE WORD, beceause it's just an e with a stress accent on it. Totally weird, right? O_o

And last but not least Irayo for all of your help

Oh and I will have to check on the phonetics thing again, must have missed it

Yeah... English sucks. The plural of you... is actually... you. So we had to create extra wordy stuff like "you lot" or "you guys" or something like that. But still, the English standard plural of "you" is still "you". And in English, the difference between those has to be the context and especially body language. If something like "you guys" or "you lot" isn't said. It's not a skxawng question at all. I can see how it could be confusing.

Sure. If you think it flows best, or is easier to pronounce that way or if you just feel like it.

Okay! So if the it were a single person delivering the message then we wouldn't use the ay, but in this sentence we the message is being sent by more than one person? I know what you mean about English, we usually just say wrong things until it becomes "real terms" lol, like "ain't"

Yes, that's right. If it were just one person sending the message, it would have been

fpe' ngal oer a 'upxareti stawm oel. (I hear the message you((singular)) send me)

with ngal instead of ayngal.

I looked at the phonetics page again and I think that I seen the "'" it was in red, and labeled glottal but I didn't see "how" it is said, is there something that shows what it "sounds like"?

HRH I know how it is with the autocorrect. Yesterday, I was texting someone and when I went to say txon lefpom, it got "corrected" to Txìm lefpom.

It's just that sound that you unknowingly use all the time. English does not transcribe this sound in writing. But a whole lot of the time, words that start with vowels actually start with this ' sound, especially when we want to 'emphasize that specific word. It's actually a common bad habit of English speakers learning Na'vi to pronounce a ' at the beginning of Na'vi words that are supposed to start with vowels. Tìftang (') adds 'oomf. If that makes sense.

Yea the auto correct is awkward, although if I use a word enough sometimes it will fix the Na'vi word! LoL that would be awkward
Yea that was a freak storm on Sunday morning, we hadn't had one in two months(in the summer here that's rare) and I saw the lightning before dawn and I thought that it was going to be nice to watch a good storm then five minutes after I got downstairs I felt the house shake slightly and it took out a power pole and fell in the yard, so I spent Labor Day helping the family clean the yard, I may post a photo or two on the forum sometime.

Awesome! Yeah. It's what happens when you stand around waiting to talk, you naturally close your throat off. Then when you talk, you force the voice out and pop your throat open. Try it. The only alternative, which to some poeple feels unnatural, is to always have your throat open and free. Then there's no 'oomf tìftang (') sound when you go to start speaking a vowel. That kind of thing. But yeah. The trying to push out the u in uh-oh, as well as the break between the two syllables is tìftang (').

Okay here goes...

I just read lesson 8, and I am confused by the fact that il, l and t,it are sometimes not used when ther is more than one verb in the sentence?
