You're right about the breakdown of this.

I think -hu makes a different slightly different tone than -ru. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just no one says it like that.

It's just the difference between

Do you have peace?
vs.
Is peace with you?

I say, if you have peace, then it is with you. So there's no real difference.
