MANY have voiced their strong opposition against this film, mostly for reasons like "I hate Tim Burton", "I hate Johnny Depp", "It replaced Avatar", "It isn't as good as Avatar", etc.
I, for one, absolutely adored the movie. I'm obsessed with it, almost as much as I am with Avatar. Many here probably don't agree, think it's crap, and I understand why. However, I'd like to start a discussion (an intelligent one, not just flaming) about what anyone like or disliked about the film. I'm not a big Burton fan. I'm not a huge Depp fan either. I didn't, however, compare Alice to Avatar while watching, which is a huge plus for me, since I didn't have to beat myself for liking something else. But anyway, discuss why you hated/disliked it, or (for probably maybe 4 or 5 members here) how you loved/liked it.

While I personally feel that Alice in Wonderland couldn't really be compared to Avatar (maybe I'm biased
), I feel that the underlying message - pursue your dreams, don't let the rest of society drag you down with their paradigms, really applies to us Avatar fans as well. The movie was a bit predictable, and the acting wasn't that fantastic, but overall there's interesting scenes, good graphics and a respectable plot.

I do hate Tim Burton, and most of Johnny Depp's roles. But, in the spirit of optimism and good humor, I'll honor the old adage "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

I haven't seen it, don't plan to. Neutral on Tim Burton himself, not even sure what else he's done, but the film itself just doesn't really appeal to me much.
I rarely watch films in the cinema though, the last one I watched there before Avatar was that JJ Abrams Star Trek parody.

i saw it, i liked the message, and the colorful world, i just didnt feel immersed in it, had burton actually gotten me immersed in it, i would most likely have loved it. besides that, i thought it was a good movie, bit predictable but so was avatar (i think AIW was even more predictable though)

I though it was good because of the subtile Burton style!
( that come with depp/bonham carter) and originality, seeing that movie almost as a sequel of what actually happened merely 13 years earlier was brilliant not a movie i would watch back to back but i really enjoyed

I watched it.
It was okay to watch, the cheshire cat was done well. However, I don't feel that it retained the original magic of Alice and Wonderland. It needed something more to really grab my interest.

I haven't seen it yet so I can't really comment, but I don't particularly want to either...

I Liked avatar, but i feel that burton should have done a full 'reboot' telling alice in wonderland for what the original was, be he should have warped it. I'd have looved to have seen Dakota Blue Richards (my choice) to play alice.

You know, I love Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and the original Lewis Carroll novel, but for some reason I wasn't at all excited for this film. I do still want to see it though.

I watched it in 3D...
Personally i had no intention to go, but i was invited by the same people who called me to watch Avatar (which i wouldn't have watched at all ) and i thought it was a somekinda sign maybe, that i should see it.But i must say it wasn't that great. Alright there were some cool scenes, but nothing that special...

Well we've gotta remember that this movie isn't based on Alice In Wonderland but rather primarily on Carroll's sequel to it, Through the Looking Glass.

I have yet to see AiW in the theater as it does not appeal to me. The same goes for most movies. I've only seen two different movies in the last 5 years.
