Default A somewhat obscure question

Does anyone know when filming of the movie actually took place?

I heard 2007 was generally the year in which most filming took place, to my knowledge, but I don't have specifics. I'm sure someone here does, of course, know the details.

Well if you're wondering about exact dates, no idea how you'd find that out, but I'm pretty sure the making of stuff on the bluray says when each stage of filming happened.

Default Avatar shoot times

I know in 2005 they did a test shoot with other Actors that ware playing Jake/Neytiri, from 2005 to late 2007 a lot of the mo-cap stuff was shot then the live action shoot started and that took about a year to get done. so all in all about 5 years But if You add in the time from first concept through R&D to a actual shoot, You're talking about close to 8 years adding up everything to make Avatar
I'm just glad the Sequels are not taking that long Avatar was the first of it's kind and I wish more studios would take chances with new IPs instead of rehashing old classics that should not be touched.

I've gotta say I was disappointed by how un-obscure that question was.
