A look at today's Sun

This image combines three images with different, but very similar, temperatures. The colors are assigned differently than in our single images. Here AIA 211 is red, AIA 193 is green, and AIA 171 is blue. Each highlights a different part of the corona. We can see a coronal hole (top, blueish area), active regions on the left and right side (bright areas) and we can see some magnetic filaments snaking around in the bottom portion of the Sun. Filaments are elongated clouds of cooler gases suspended above the Sun by magnetic forces. They are rather unstable and often break away from the Sun. Source

I see the sun as a reminder that at anytime Nature can shut down our so
called ''Modern' world with a single big Soler storm/flare. That's kind of humbling if You ask Me
