Hey everyone, I haven't posted in a while but check out my first two posts if you haven't read them yet.
I'm at the point where I'm eager to contact James Cameron regarding environmental preservation and I don't really have an idea of where to begin looking for a reliable source. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it was easy, everyone would do it.
![]() However, I hear interesting things are happening in LA this summer, so that might be worth looking at.

If you want to do something to help keeps Earth's ecology intact, go to school for an environmental science/ecology/conservation biology degree and go to at least the master's level after you get a bachelor's degree. Then go find a job that helps supports a cause in the interest field/area you are most passionate about.
If that's not "in the cards" for you, then start doing things in your region to help the local ecology where it has been impacted by human activity. Some people seem to think that "preserving the environment" has to be done with big, ambitious actions, but in reality, the most effective solutions are often undertaken at lower levels.

Why would contacting JC be a big thing on your to-do list. Do what Raiden says. He could probably answer every question you have.

Raiden, I'm currently studying Mechanical Engineering. While that may seem counter-intuitive towards my ambition of preserving nature, the economic viability of implementing widespread alternative energy is a crucial aspect of ecological preservation. Changing the way our society is run from the source in a way that reduces pollution and doesn't introduce any habitat loss is the backbone of a more ecologically responsible civilization of the next generation. James Lovelock and Stephan Harding would agree with my major of choice with plans for graduate school in thermofluids.
I'm already doing volunteer work regarding environmental preservation in my town (Newmarket, Ontario), so great advice on that. Regarding ambitions for doing big things, getting into contact with James Cameron isn't really asking much, he isn't any different from me or you, aside from the fact that he did reignite something deep and magical in me and he did go after the big thing. And when I do get into contact with him, any changes we will make will be an accumulation of smaller things, maybe a big one here and there. Anyways, I was just asking if someone had known here. And to add to this, technology doesn't owe ecology an apology, just irresponsible growth of technology. Last edited by Freedom; 04-05-2014 at 01:21 AM. |

Yes, it is. Because you're not at all the only one who would like to do this, nor the most qualified.

You can give it a shot with email or even written mail, but don't hold your breath for a response.

Icu, perhaps soon I will be
and perhaps we both can. Sorry if my initial post came off a bit grandiose. As a side note, that 'moar' in your status, are you a fan of deadmau5? Joel lives right beside my engineering building at ryerson and often times come to our electrical department to do side projects like modular synths and it's incredibly interesting to me as a producer ![]() Edit: I guess I can't expect fame connections from one industry into the next as much, however making soundtrack music and talking about it with Joel, Hans Zimmer just might be the bridge

Hey guys, just seeing this. Haven't been on in a while, but nice to see this forum still going strong!
Na'vi Hero, I definitely will the next time i get into contact with Joel, he moved far away from the big city however into a forested country side in the middle of Northern Ontario, go figure right? He's also starting to invest into alternative energy incentives and companies like Tesla (though that in itself has its issues, first generation renewables might actually harm the progress of 2nd gen). Theorist, that's awesome man! That's definitely something I was considering doing as well but I'm not really a mechatronics guys haha, still passionate about the thermofluids side of mech eng, so alternative energy and environmental. About to go into my 4th year! Then graduate school, have tons of ideas for capstone/masters and potentially entrepreneurial pursuits. How is it going for you?P.S. still no insight on contacting James Cameron but I can't say I really tried thus far, I will once I feel I'm ready to contribute something with him. P.P.S. my multiquote isn't working lately, or maybe I forgot how to use it hah
