I kinda related to Avatar because of my hearing disability. I am fully deaf. Seeing Jake get into his Avatar's body and be able to walk again made me want to do the same and be able to hear. This movie got me off my butt and I got some good hearing aids just so I could hear the sounds of the movie. I went to the XD 3D theater with the new aids and it was an AMAZING experience. I get goose bumps thinking of it still! The roars of the animals, neytiri's voice, horses galloping, the waterfall, and all those other sounds were mesmerizing since I haven't been able to hear much in a LONG time.

Of course the story itself was amazing and captured my heart like no other movie in my history. It changed my life more than I'd admit. I thank Avatar for making me aware of what I walk on and how important it is.

It is always amazing to hear these stories - they really show that no matter how Avatar has affected us in different ways, it is always an amazing and growing experience.

it's only about 4 meters high but one can still break something falling down, & the rocks are very slippery; it's also difficult to climb down (without seeing much)- some crevices are big enough for just one toe! So I was moving Very carefully, stretching myself to the limits, and of course I couldn't help remembering how Jake & Neytiri moved along that narrow ledge under a waterfall towards the ikran colony.
Then there was nothing that I could step or hold on to, and I just jumped, caught at the lianas, and landed almost into the pool!
I could almost See Neytiri giggling by my side because for her - so trained, so flexible, so strong and so... everything! - my whole exercise was just a game for babies (stupid ignorant babies! ) but I am also sure that she would understand - I am only a human

I know there's at least one person there who has a similar story to the one in the OP. (Although I'm not going to say who it is - I'm sure they'll say so if they want to be known.)

I was in Seattle too, and considered cosplaying, but wound up too scared that I'd embarass myself.

You could do great, you should just make sure you have an assistant to help do stuff. I can't imagine trying to cosplay alone, I had HNM help me and I used to always help Sarah.

This is True! I had my blessings from Candace - i simply wouldn't cosplay if she didn't offer to paint people. I am still Very, very grateful.

Really, Neytirislover93 - if you mean your physical problem - I am sure it Is a bother, and painful, & I can feel with you. But then again, Na'vi would have their wounds, too (hunting accidents, battles... even Neytiri has a little scar on her face). I guess one should just invent for oneself a character - a unique, different and special one - and take it from there.

If I were to give out any prizes I would have given one to Jane McMillan (?) not so much for the costume but for the character - man, she Really worked on her cosplay personality!

Some people were hunters, some crafts-persons, some Avatar-drivers... you're spoilt for choice!
Anyways, there is a whole Cosplay subforum here, so if you, or anybody, is interested - you'll get lots of info & ideas there
