besides Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, who else is known to have signed on? if i remember correctly, jc wanted as many as the original actors to return, so there's still quite a few names missing, here...
cheers. *edit*: cch pounder, as of 2010, was supposedly scheduled to return as mo'at. don't know if this was confirmed. Last edited by avtrfan; 09-01-2014 at 02:26 AM. |

just accidentally stumbled onto one apparent confirmation (whilst searching for active bookshelf speakers, go figure):
as per the "avatar wikia", dileep rao is scheduled to return in avatar 2. also, the website's page for "avatar 2" says joel moore is part of the sequel's cast. no firm information about giovanni ribisi. i will search later on to confirm this new info, as i am unsure how valid this info can be. ** edit ** some quick googling to confirm the above (about the return of max & norm) has only turned up this page from 2012: http://www.ifc.com/fix/2012/10/avata...ron-dileep-rao so it seems norm is indeed back *with his avatar*. the page is unclear about max's return. i don't know how valid this info is. can anyone else add to this? It's an interesting question - I've been on the side of "Norm's avatar survived" before (hit in the shoulder doesn't seem likely to be fatal, but could probably cause passing out from pain), but I can still accept how it is deliberately left ambiguous to a degree. I guess at this stage nobody knows except for those who will never tell...

@hnm: yes, i too believe the original film was ambiguous enough to open the possibility of norm's avatar surviving, even if it is in rough shape. at least, avatar_norm was not shot point blank by wainfleet like in the original version of his demise (that deleted scene was way over the top, in my opinion).
in the mean-time, i have noticed that the "avatar wikia", on its "avatar 2" page, lists joel moore as part of the line-up, along with cch pounder. so, if we are to believe this, we seem to have 6 confirmed actors, the only unknown being dileep rao and giovanni ribisi. too bad michele rodriguez won't be back, as it seems she really wanted to be part of the sequels. if they'd just written "that scene" a little differently, made it a bit fuzzy... |

@moco loco: what? i'm not sure what is being shown there. are you saying that michelle rodriguez's not returning (besides the fact her character's samson got blown up) has some legal reasons behind it?
or is it just that jc is considered by some to be very litigious? |

One of JC's alternate names on IMDb is "James Cameron and his Lawyers", it isn't really relevant, just thought it was funny.

update (sort of) on confirmed actors:
according to the following web page Avatar 2: Everything you need to know about the sequel including release date, stars and plot - Mirror Online dated august 2014, only 4 actors appear to be confirmed: zoe saldana, sigourney weaver, stephen lang and sam worthington. which is the same line-up as this page: Avatar 2 Trailer, News, Videos, and Reviews | ComingSoon.net dated 2013. i haven't been able to track down any recent information about cch pounder, joel moore, dileep rao or giovanni ribisi. of course, we should all be aware that because google doesn't point to it that it doesn't exist. or in this case, not because we can't find a definitive list of confirmed actors for the avatar sequels via google that the "unconfirmed ones" won't be there. oh, well. |
