The Ninat joke-what do I think of it?

I mean stop that joke its stupid...I'll clear this for you all useing one semple question-Is it funny that she has tsaherpes? That she is ill? So what that she is only a film charecter? it dosen't metter Is it funny that Ninat suffers? becouse she has tsaherpes? Put yourself on her place would you like if someone you laugh at you becouse your sick/ill?

Even though we didn't actualy see her in the film(thats also one of the resons)she is still the best singer in the Omaticaya klan and you should love her for that(just like you love Neytiri) and don't call her names she didn't diserve for bad treatment I think it is the time to say NO! to the tsaherpes joke

I'm just going to assume this thread is serious, because of the circumstances.

Tsaherpes was a joke invented on the IRC channel a long time ago (relatively speaking) that came from the scene where Jake refuses Neytiri's suggestion.

People started wondering if there was something wrong with her, i.e. a sexually-transmitted disease, and they also noted that the syllable "tsa" appeared pretty often in the language. So they made up "tsaherpes".

It's a harmless joke, and personally I would find it hilarious if Ninat wound up being a character in the upcoming movies and James Cameron decided to make her incredibly attractive, which would cause those responsible to eat their words.

I just don't get it how can a joke like this be funny It's like laughing that someone has cancer (its the same exact thing I ment that peaple now laugh at fictional charicters and tomorrow they will start laughing at real peaple thats just stupid

I know where you're coming from, as I said in your other thread I used to think it was offensive as well. But here's something to keep in mind -

The "Ninat" character was basically given to the fans as an empty slate. All we know about her is her name and that Neytiri thinks she is a good singer. Someone played a joke on why Jake didn't want her, and it turned into a way to make her a unique character. But that doesn't mean that the Ninat *you* imagine is the same, she is a fictional character and can be whoever you want. Until anything more on the character shows up from the actual creators of Avatar, no one's ideas about Ninat are more credible than others.

Also, unless you look through old threads (which I see you have been doing, but just remember this stuff isn't current), the Ninat thing basically *is* dead on this forum. If you go to IRC you'll see more references to Ninat as being a slightly unsavory character, but I cannot remember the last time I saw a tsaherpes reference about her. It was big in its heyday but these days you don't see it around all that much.
