Default Found these old Photoshop projects.

I was going through my Photobucket and stumbled across a couple of old edits and I thought I'd share them here.

This first one is actually my very first attempt at using Photoshop. The story behind the photo is simple. Someone mentioned something about the Na'vi being Terminators in some Terminator/AVATAR/James Cameron merged world. So I set out to bring it to life. Basically this is the result of installing Photoshop, importing the image, and a few hours later... This...

After that any time anyone would bring up some concept I would try to make it happen. In this next image someone on AF said they wondered what Neytiri would look like with make up on.

The consensus at the time was that it made her look "too unnatural."

I know what you mean. I can't get enough of her either.

Here is another one I did for AVATAR Day 2012. I had a layering issue with her lips and they never quite turned out right.

Of course you already saw these two from the other day, but they're from AVATAR Day 2012. The last one I didn't complete in time and as I said in the other thread I never got around to posting it.

I've got more I've got to collect them together.

Here is a comparison between my 2010 AF signature and my 2011 / 2012 / 2013 signature.

2010

2011

2012 / 2013

Here's an alternate version I decided not to use.

I feel that I certainly improved on it.

In my opinion it looks better than the actual logo that was used on the forum.

Ah, the horrific effects of photo compression...

Fun fact - the blue Na'vi print backdrop on my 2012 / 2013 signature is actually part of Neytiri's leg from this screenshot...

The Na'vi handprint is an edit of my hand. I dipped my hand in liquefied charcoal and pressed it on paper. I then took a picture of it with a negative filter and the rest was done in Photoshop.

Here's the original Na'vi hand as I was designing it.

Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

Not that any of this is of high quality or anything. it's the best I could do at the time.

Here is another unfinished project. The goal was to put Neytiri in real forest scenes to bring out more realism. I'm not sure exactly what I was going for here. I was working on getting the lighting of the original scene and her to match. I was about to start bringing more details out when my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and everything in my life stopped. Unfortunately he died April 23rd, 2014 and I just haven't gotten back to my old projects yet.

I have more to post.

I'm so sorry for your father.

This picture is quite good and well done.

Thanks

We found the cancer too late. It was in his bones, kidneys, liver, and brain. So it was at a very advanced stage and at that point there was no hope of survival, but he put up a good fight.

i like this edit, and looking forward to moar from you, Enigma. my sincerest condolences on the passing of your dad, and hope that his spirit lives on both in you, and somewhere special in this vast universe, no matter what your belief. someone told me recently that the letters r.i.p. for rest in peace, actually stand for reincarnation in progress. hmmm...interesting.

Thanks Ja'k

Here's another edit. We were creating AVATAR Devine Dolls and posting them on AF. This is the original that I created...

It wasn't unique enough so I put it in Photoshop and did a complete redraw of many areas and removed certain elements that I didn't like.

Wameyn had commissioned some artwork of the Eastern Sea Ikran Leader.

Here is the original artwork Wameyn posted by Michael Downey.

I saw it and decided to put it in Photoshop to color it and bring it to life.
