So it's anyone's guess what the sequels will consist of. With possibly three sequels in the works there's a lot of story to tell, but what will the final moment in the final film be?
In the beginning of the first film we fly over the forest of Pandora with Jake's voice leading us in. He says he woke up in a VA hospital with a hole blown through his life. That statement got me to thinking of a possible "surprise ending." ![]() What if it turns out that none of it happened and Jake was simply in a coma... No Pandora, no ikran, no forests, no Na'vi, and no Neytiri... ![]() Just a dream... ![]() ...Jake, leaving the hospital to get back to his "life."

I for one sure hope a cheap trick like that is below James Cameron. "It was all just a dream" is so insanely overused, and so incredibly disappointing.

Especially given his intention for the movies to have an environmental impact - "Nah, none of that is that important, it's all just a dream anyway"
![]() The only time the "it was all just a dream" really works is when they put an unexpected twist on it (The Matrix, certain Doctor Who episodes, among others), but Avatar isn't really the kind of movie that lends itself well to those kind of story elements.

One major difference the second time around would be instead of Mo'at asking why Jake has come, that conversation would go more along the lines of "we've been expecting you". Again, this is just something I've thought about from time to time. |

I don't think there will/should(IMO) be a sudden plot twist along the lines of "It was just a dream" But I am very interested to see what Cameron has in store for us

And of course, James Cameron was able to tell the story of the Titanic with many true elements while infusing a fictional love story in with it. So he does have a lot of creative tricks up his sleeves. I know one thing, James Cameron needs to allow the next installments to be rated R so we can incorporate more adult content into the story to open it up a bit. Then we could get some hardcore Neytiri and Jake action.

I'm going to be very suspicious if anyone handwaves Avatar's backstory with, "It's a long story."
![]() IMO, rerunning Avatar with Jake knowing what he's doing would produce a radically different film.

I hope JC knows that this will just ruin all Avatar fans.So I guess he wouldnt write a plot like that. But Crickett's opinion is really nice though.Im getting more excited every second 2 more years of waiting is a pain.

The only thing i will accept is the eventual death of Neytiri in one of the sequels.
Yes, yes, it would be heartbreaking but i would be a pretty play: The Fall of the Na‘vi. These are details are of what i read about the next movies and my own theories on the storyline. So here we go: A new threat from a old enemy rises with the humans returning for wealth and blood. “Eternity is ahead. Our destiny awaits. For our people.” The antagonist leading the mission states as an armada heads for Pandora. They target several tribes from orbit and blow them half to hell. Jake‘s tribe is hit forcing them to flee(again) to safety. In the smoke the Tree of Souls still stands, stranger still is the presence a human sitting at the feet of the sacred tree deep in meditation. It‘s the antagonist from before and he spared the tree for his hiddens goals. “Jake Sully. Honored warrior. Injured. Came to a Pandora to given a chance in a new frontier. Then, like the serpent, shed your form for one that you can start a new life. You gave up everything for a new life, love and family. You gave up everything, not knowing the price then, but you will.” Jake fleas the area through the smoke as hightech soldiers enter the area. Mining begins but the Tree of Souls is untouched because for now its the lynch pin. Pull it and the planet dies ... Or so it is believed. The antagonist reviews the files on everything on the Na‘vi at the old base. He learns the Tree of Souls is heart and brains of the show. Having some “control” over the nature on Pandora. Using a special device that allows him to see everything through the animals, plants and the Na‘vi (more so with the latter when they connect with the rest using the rest). Jake then hears the antagonists voice in his head and sees him when he‘s not really. “Like Alice, you follow a rabbit down into Wonderland, Jake. But beware the Jabberwocky, my boy, and the Bantersnatch” In their exodus the tribes are attacked by the very wildlife they honored and feared. They fought and forced over a cliff into a deep river. Alas most are alive but this symbolizes the begining of the end of Pandora. Jake is found on the shore by the anontagonist‘s men and taken back to the Tree of Souls where protagonist and antagonist have a decent conversation. “You know of the lotus? Prized as a rare jewel. It blooms even amongst filth and decay. Earth is filling with it.” The antagonist explains to Jake that part of the reason military came back to take him and the others back to Earth to stand trial on their acctions and Quarich‘s actions also. Jake refuses but the antagonist shows a video files detailing the team‘s development process of the Avatar bodies. Flawed castings from a perfect mold: the avatar bodies are designed for one use only - temporary use for temporary situation. After a certian number of years the bodies will die. Jake‘s days are numbered. “You and I are like brothers. We both have lost siblings. We both were in wars. And we both are living in bodies that are slowly killing us.” Long story short, the Na‘vi are wipeout, Neytiri is killed in battle, the humans permeantly colonize Pandora Jake is given a clone of his human body along with his children to live a life in peace. He sits on under a tree on another alien telling his life story, and the lessons that must be remembered, to a group of human and alien children. “We all deserve to live. To live in harmony with others and our enviroment. We must remember the lesson of Pandora and the Na‘vi.” And thats it. They said that three movies are in the making. But if they only make one i‘m fine with. Besides, what I theorized may take up one or all four movies. But all this is just my two cents. :3 |

JC confirmed 2, 3, and 4, and has hinted repeatedly that they are also working on bringing an Avatar prequel to the silver screen, showing humans landing on Na'ta (Pandora) and their 30 years of destructive occupation, including the death of Sylwanin and ending with an ISV shuttle landing and wheelchair-bound Jake Sully emerging into the glorious sunlight...
i will not accept anything that doesn't say 'directed by James Cameron'.
