Oh man...your setup and preparation is way too familiar to me.
I also need to have a clear head, darkened setting, and no physical or mental distractions before I watch the movie! Neither do I like to watch it much with other people, unless it's with someone who finds the movie as special as I do. The last time I watched it was with such a person, and we both knew that we needed to approach those three hours the same way! Yep...just not something I can casually sit down to and flick on.Somewhat related, but I don't let myself watch short clips from the movie that have been put on YouTube nor any fan videos. Dunno why I do this but for me it's got to be all of it or none of it. It's been more than 18 months since I last saw Avatar...I've been planning on breaking that spell sometime soon (it's the longest I've gone between viewings) and I know I'm going to make sure everything is just right before I do... Good to see you back again PH.

I'm pretty similar in a way. I have to have a clear head and no other thoughts except what I'm about to experience. I haven't watched it in a while mainly because I haven't been able to get a clear mind. We are buying our first house and it's nerve-wrecking. The only thing on my mind these days is EVERYTHING regarding the move so I'm a bit too stressed to focus on the "experience".
