Avatar Sequel Delayed Beyond 2017

Just what the title says; I included the reddit thread because there's some interesting discussion there as well. So, who thinks this is Disney's fault?

Given the timing, it certainly seems like that could be the case, but at this point I could see the delay being the result of even more fine-tuning before production begins. Perhaps there was some consideration over whether to delay it again, and then Disney decided to Star Wars the crap out of the next two Decembers and that just made up the minds of Cameron & co. for them. Then again, it's not like Disney has anything to gain from making the sequel be delayed too long given that they're adding this world to one of their parks...

What interesting things are being discussed in the Reddit thread? I'd look myself but I typically can't stand any kind of online discussion of Avatar outside of the main forums.

Given that they've apparently not started filming yet, they might've delayed it because they realized they didn't have enough time.

LMAO you're right i totally forgot about HL3

at least we got trailers and booths for persona 5 and DNF. we haven't heard ANYTHING AT ALL about a half life game for 12 years

The talk of Duke Nukem Forever is a bit concerning; I hope Avatar 2 won't be *that* awful. However, even if it's the best film to ever grace the silver screen I think it will have some unrealistically large shoes to fill for many of us. We're expecting a few hours of footage that's worth waiting 8 years to see.
