![]() I was really saddened by the news of Anton's death. So young, so sudden and so senseless. Many vehicles today are poorly designed. As we move towards more electronic controls I predict we'll see even more problems. Remember a few years ago recalls for cars with electronic accelerators because they were getting stuck? The problem that killed Anton was an electronic gearshift. Makes me uneasy about these newer cars especially the ones switching to electronic steering. I prefer traditional controls over electronic controls. With electronic steering the steering wheel isn't connected to anything. So if the electronics go out you're done for. At least if your hydraulic pump goes out you can still steer. With electronic steering what if there's a malfunction and the car thinks the steering wheel has been turned hard left or right when it hasn't? You'll be driving down the highway and suddenly your car will make a sharp turn into oncoming traffic. Talk about horrific future accidents. ![]() Each time I come to the forum I click your eggs / dragons. ![]() I'm not sure why, but for some reason the click count is off.
