Is the community too spread out?

With the sudden closure of avatar-forums.com I'm wondering, did the community spread out too far after Avatar came out.

I counted at least five different community forums or fan sites with most of them dying out over the years. I wonder if part of the problem is that since we're so spread out and the community rather small we're struggling to keep sites going because each has only a small core.

I'm not saying we would combine into one website but I do feel this is a problem for the Avatar fan community.
